UGI Utilities, Inc. has initiated a critical infrastructure upgrade in Selinsgrove Borough and Penn Township, focusing on replacing gas mains to bolster service reliability and safety. The project encompasses work on University Avenue, Fairview Drive, Hower Street, and 18th Street, with construction set from Monday to Friday, 7 am to 5 pm, aiming for completion by mid-May.
Residents and commuters should prepare for possible disruptions, including road closures, detours, and traffic delays, alongside parking restrictions on affected streets. Temporary natural gas service interruptions may occur, necessitating UGI technicians to inspect and relight equipment for some property owners.
The infrastructure improvements will specifically target University Avenue from 18th Street to Fairview Drive, Fairview Drive from University Avenue to Hower Street, Hower Street from Fairview Drive to 18th Street, and 18th Street from University Avenue to Pine Meadows Drive. Despite potential adjustments due to weather and working conditions, UGI is dedicated to reducing inconvenience for the local community.
This project not only signifies a substantial investment in utility infrastructure but also opens avenues for homeowners and businesses along the route to switch to natural gas service, potentially enriching the community's energy choices.
