This accolade highlights Alsco Uniforms' implementation of several pivotal initiatives, such as the modernization of industrial dryers to lessen natural gas usage, the substitution of old heating and cooling systems with more energy-efficient alternatives, and the refinement of delivery routes to enhance fuel efficiency.
Joey Kink, general manager at the Spokane Alsco Uniforms facility, shed light on the company's extensive environmental commitment. Kink pointed out the company's provision of reusable products to diminish disposable waste and its careful selection of vendors who adhere to sustainable practices. Notably, Alsco Uniforms sources table linens produced in the U.S. that boast longer life cycles and collaborates with a mat vendor that recycles more than 1.25 million pounds of rubber each year.
With a history in Spokane since 1955 and origins tracing back to 1889, Alsco Uniforms now boasts over 200 locations globally. Its commitment to environmental stewardship goes beyond energy efficiency, involving partnerships with laundry chemical suppliers to create environmentally friendly formulas. The Spokane Clean Air Agency will honor Alsco Uniforms with the Clean Air Award at a ceremony scheduled for February 12, emphasizing the agency's goal to enhance air quality and motivate businesses to embrace sustainable operations.
