The 2024 Korea Safety Expo (K-SAFETY EXPO 2024), held at BEXCO in Busan, South Korea, from September 10, marked a pivotal moment in the evolution of disaster safety technologies. Organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety of Korea and Busan Metropolitan City, the event celebrated its 10th anniversary by focusing on scientific disaster safety management and the future of the advanced disaster safety industry.
This year's expo introduced the ICT/Climate Disaster Special Zone, featuring groundbreaking solutions like K-Water's Digital Twin Water Management Platform and Cudo Communication's wildfire detection system. These innovations reflect the industry's move towards technology-driven disaster management strategies. The Overseas Pavilion further enriched the expo with international contributions, including Japan's Pi Photonics' safety zone marking lights and Singapore's COSEM's fire safety training solutions, highlighting the global effort to tackle disaster safety challenges.
A key feature of the expo was the 'Disaster Safety Business Consultation Meeting,' which connected 116 international buyers with over 180 exhibitors, showcasing the potential for Korean technologies to enter new markets. The 'K-Safety Conference 2024' and its forums provided a platform for global knowledge exchange and cooperation in disaster management.
Innovatively, the 'Children's Safety AI Competition' demonstrated how generative AI can be used to educate young minds on safety awareness, pointing to the future role of AI in public safety education. Minister Sang-min Lee underscored the importance of scientific disaster management and the expo's role as a global platform for comprehensive safety solutions.
Covering a wide range of safety fields and coinciding with related expos, the K-SAFETY EXPO 2024 underscored the critical need for innovative solutions in the face of increasing disaster risks due to climate change and technological advancements.
