Sonepar has strategically consolidated its Midwest electrical distribution operations by merging Echo Electric, Springfield Electric, Richards Electric, Pepco, and Holt under the Echo Electric brand. This consolidation forms a powerhouse with over $1.2 billion in annual sales, covering more than 500,000 square miles across nine Midwestern states. The move is set to redefine the electrical distribution landscape in the region by combining 400 years of collective industry experience under the leadership of Chris Scarbrough, formerly president of Springfield Electric.
The newly unified Echo Electric aims to deliver expanded inventory, specialized expertise, and enhanced service capabilities to its clientele in the electrical contracting, industrial, and utility sectors. Rob Taylor, President of Sonepar Americas, highlighted the strategic advantage of this merger, pointing to the seamless integration of distribution networks and resources as a key driver for operational excellence and customer service improvement.
Echo Electric will offer a wide array of electrical products, equipment, and services, including specialized solutions like panel and switchboard assembly, control panel design, cable management, digital solutions, and industrial packages. The organization's footprint will span Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio, Nebraska, and southern South Dakota, marking Sonepar's sixth U.S. operation to surpass $1 billion in annual sales.
This consolidation not only strengthens Sonepar's position in the electrical distribution sector but also signals its commitment to strategic growth and market expansion. By pooling resources and expertise, Echo Electric is poised to offer unparalleled service and innovation, setting a new standard for the industry in the Midwest and beyond.
