The Malaysian French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCIFM) recently celebrated the robust business relations between France and Malaysia at its annual Gala Night, held at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur. The event underscored France's role as Malaysia's third-largest trading partner within the European Union, with bilateral trade amounting to €5.28 billion (MYR26 billion) in 2023. This gathering of over 400 guests, including key figures such as Datuk Zainal Amanshah, Mr. Richard Fostier, and H.E. Axel Cruau, highlighted the significant French economic presence in Malaysia, with 600 French entities employing around 30,000 people.
During the Gala Night, the CCIFM Excellence Awards were presented to recognize contributions to Franco-Malaysian business relations, with winners like Decathlon, Nazsoft Tech, and Club Med showcasing the diversity of successful French businesses in Malaysia. The event also served as a platform to support Malaysia's upcoming Chair of ASEAN in 2025, signaling potential for enhanced economic ties between France and Southeast Asia.
A notable CSR initiative announced at the event was the planting of 400 trees in the Lower Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary, reflecting CCIFM's commitment to environmental sustainability. The success of Franco-Malaysian business relations is supported by a collaborative network involving the French Embassy, Business France, and Malaysian agencies, facilitating trade and investment opportunities.
The Gala Night not only celebrated current achievements but also looked forward to future collaborations, with entertainment from Malaysian artists adding a cultural touch to the evening. As France and Malaysia continue to strengthen their economic partnership, events like the CCIFM Gala Night play a pivotal role in fostering networking, celebrating successes, and paving the way for continued growth in the Asia-Pacific region.
