Alsco Uniforms and Hawaiʻi Unified Industries have achieved a milestone in sustainable energy with the completion of a large-scale rooftop solar installation at Alsco's Honolulu plant. Operational since June 2024, this project underscores Alsco's dedication to environmental stewardship, projecting an annual generation of 1,036,621 kWh of solar power. This initiative is set to offset 1,575,892 pounds of carbon dioxide in its first year, akin to planting 12,128 trees, while also promising over $435,000 in annual energy cost savings.
Tim Stuewer, Director of Operations Support at Alsco Uniforms, highlighted the project's alignment with the company's sustainable business model and commitment to the communities it serves. The installation, executed in two phases starting in 2022, ensures operational efficiency while transitioning to solar power. Ryno Irwin, CEO of Hawaiʻi Unified, praised the partnership for its shared environmental responsibility goals, aiming to preserve Hawaii's natural beauty for future generations.
