The BC Ski Team is poised to commence its 2025-26 racing season, with coaching staff expressing optimism after a pre-season regimen that spanned physical conditioning and on-snow training across two continents. The season opener is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 18, at Panorama, B.C., featuring the FIS GMC Cup. The team composition includes returning athletes Dylan Stevens, Baptiste Cais, and Hannah Jensen, alongside four newly named members aged 16 to 20, representing ski clubs from various regions of the province.
Head coach Morgan Pridy highlighted the team's collaborative dynamic during preparations, noting that athletes have consistently pushed each other to improve. Pridy, assisted by coaches Eric Schwenck and Dillon Prophet, emphasized that the rigorous off-season work positions the team for potential success in the upcoming competitions. "Each of these athletes has worked hard to raise their level over the past six months," Pridy stated. "If we continue to learn and our effort stays as high as our expectations, this team will have a successful season."
BC Alpine vice-president Johnny Crichton framed the team as a testament to the development pathway facilitated by BC Alpine and Alpine Canada. He explained that the pathway encompasses programs from the Nancy Greene Ski League to club FIS initiatives, culminating in the BC Ski Team. Crichton pointed to deliberate coaching strategies and athlete-specific performance plans as key factors in maintaining alignment and readiness. "They are working hard in the gym and on snow, and the coaches have been intentional with every block of training," he said. "Clear, athlete-specific performance plans have kept everyone aligned, and they’re ready to race, learn, and keep pushing toward the next level."
The organization also acknowledged Jasmine Coubrough, who will not return this season due to injury, recognizing her contributions and professionalism during her tenure with the team. Crichton remarked, "We were fortunate to have Jasmine on the team. She proudly represented the Vernon Ski Club and inspired future racers. We wish her all the best." The full roster for the 2025-26 season includes Baptiste Cais, Tylee Carr, Dreas Gibbons, Lola Gilbert, Hannah Jensen, Dylan Stevens, and Thea Torn, with coaching led by Morgan Pridy, Eric Schwenck, and Dillon Prophet.
