MelGeek has introduced its Centauri60 and Centauri80 Hall Effect gaming keyboards, marking the company's most significant product debut in its 10-year history. The Centauri Series combines display innovation, magnetic-switch technology and expanded user-control systems aimed at setting a new standard for premium custom keyboards.
The new line features MelGeek's third-generation magnetic switch system, developed after years of engineering research. The system includes a master controller chip supported by five distributed processing chips, allowing for more stable, responsive and lower-latency input performance. With a new anti-interference magnetic shield patent, the keyboard significantly resolves neighboring key interference issues, effectively lowering the risk of intermittent connection failure. The keyboards employ dynamic scanning that automatically adjusts scanning rates during periods of intensive and low activity. Paired with a fourth-generation Hall Effect sensor, the system generates only 2 millivolts of signal jitter—far below the industry's typical 20 to 30 mV—offering increased stability over most comparable magnetic-switch solutions.
The Centauri's sizable OLED screen is nearly two inches in width, with a 325 PPI pixel density and 60Hz refresh rate. The display is driven by an independent image-processing chip which helps protect the keyboard's input speed. With an exclusive dual-layer screen design, users can adjust wallpapers, dynamic animations, and interactive menus. By integrating the high-definition screen into the actual keyboard frame, MelGeek brings personalization and practical usability to a level rarely seen in other performance keyboards.
The Centauri Series debuts MelGeek's "Super Dock" rotary encoder, giving users fast access to macros, volume, brightness and profile controls. The turning-knob system is positioned as a central command tool for multi-app productivity, gaming environments and content-creation tasks. Lighting improvements include an ambient, three-sided lighting system capable of more than 16 million color combinations and in-game reactive lighting responses. With the new Hive software install, users can personalize lighting profiles and save them as custom templates, animate effects with dynamic transitions, and create reactive effects that respond to key presses or system activity.
Acoustically, the Centauri features a gasket-mounted five-layer sound structure with TTC Flip King magnetic white switches, supporting a deep and polished sound profile using full-surround POM stem and high-rail construction. Bottom-out has been optimized and engineered ergonomically to feel smooth and tactile while remaining fast and responsive. The company has also implemented a new water ingress alert patent that allows for real-time detection of the main circuit board, with a warning light alarm triggered once liquid is detected, effectively minimizing potential user loss.
The launch underscores MelGeek's broader mission to strengthen its leadership role in the custom-keyboard market through engineering innovation and user-focused design. With advanced magnetic architecture, a new high-definition OLED display, customizable lighting, expanded controls and a re-engineered sound structure, the Centauri60 and Centauri80 are positioned as flagship products for 2025.
