Hong Kong Trade Fairs Launch 'Pop & Play' Pavilion, Highlighting Key Industry Trends

The 52nd HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair, 17th HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair, and 24th Hong Kong International Stationery & School Supplies Fair opened today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Jointly organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, the four-day events bring together more than 2,600 exhibitors from 37 countries and regions, including new participants from Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Norway.

A key highlight is the inaugural "Pop & Play" pavilion, open to trade buyers and the public, which features around 150 famous local and international intellectual properties (IPs). These include top names such as B.Duck, CardFun, CR7® LIFE, Hot Toys, LAURA, Moshow Toys, Play Bonito®, Room One, threezero, TUTU MOKEY, and more. The pavilion offers fair premieres and global limited-edition collectibles, such as MOMOLAND's debut dolls, TUTU MOKEY collectible figurines limited to 100 pieces, CM Concepts Limited's Mazinger Z Playing Cards limited to 1,500 sets worldwide, and Dongguan Manbo Brand Management Co., Ltd's Father Joka doll limited to 100 pieces. The pavilion also includes interactive activities like photo opportunities, creative exchanges, and autograph sessions with artists and designers.

Several significant product trends are emerging from the fairs. The growing "kidult" and toy collecting markets are driving the pop culture and collectible toys segment, with the "Kidult World" in Hall 3E showcasing toys for adults. A new "Happy Ageing" label has been introduced at the Toys & Games Fair to identify toys and games designed for seniors or intergenerational family fun, with over 40 exhibitors adopting the label. Sustainable products are also a major focus, with more than 400 exhibitors displaying the "Green Solutions" label, representing an approximate 10% increase from 2025. Examples include toys made from ocean bound plastic (OBP) and baby products certified under the FSC and Global Recycling Standard (GRS).

Educational toys that combine learning and play continue to gain traction, with products like Canadarm toys that foster interest in machinery and a 2-in-1 Digital Microscope & Telescope integrating STEM natural sciences. Korean film and TV-related products are becoming a new focus, featuring items from the animated film KPop Demon Hunters, a replica Gonggi Tossing Game from Squid Game, and debut appearances by the Korean brand Pinkfong with its Baby Shark Alphabet Learning Bus. The fairs also feature smart-tech toys with AI functions, such as a smart remote-controlled transforming ball and AI cat dolls.

The Asia Toys & Games Forum, themed "Empowering the Toy Industry for Global Success," will feature discussions on market outlook, global IP ecosystem strategies, product certification, and the seniors toy market. International experts include Loo Wee Teck from Euromonitor International, Alex Lin from The Walt Disney Company, and Phoebe Lee from SGS Hong Kong Limited. The fairs operate under the EXHIBITION+ model, combining physical access with the Click2Match smart-matching platform for online business meetings from January 5 to 22, 2026. Buyers can use the Scan2Match function to bookmark exhibitors and engage during and after the fair.
