VYRE Network, a free global streaming platform, announced a strategic partnership with filmmaker and showrunner Dr. Greg Carter, founder of Nexus Entertainment. Under the agreement, Dr. Carter will help guide VYRE's curated content strategy across Texas and adjacent regional markets, focusing on feature films, television series, docu-series, and live special events.
Dr. Carter brings over two decades of experience as a creator, director, producer, and showrunner, with credits including over 30 feature films and network television projects such as Lucky Girl, My B.F.F., and the Hip Hop Family Christmas franchise. He recently served as Creator and Showrunner of the AMC Networks dramatic series 5th Ward. Lamar Seay, Co-founder and Chief Content Officer of VYRE, stated, "Dr. Carter is both very talented and experienced. Our team is excited to bring on '5th Ward,' and for us to continue to collaborate in the future."
Dr. Carter emphasized his mission to empower regional creators by providing pathways to funding, development, production oversight, and worldwide exposure. "Houston — and the entire region — is rich with untold stories and creative voices. This new office exists to cultivate those voices, shape them, and bring them to global audiences," he said.
Through this partnership, Dr. Carter will collaborate with VYRE's executive programming team to curate and supervise production of regional content, establish strategic relationships with creators and studios, package select projects, and expand VYRE's footprint as a destination for professionally produced, culturally relevant storytelling. A key initiative includes discovering and developing filmmakers from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) in the Southern Region.
Dr. Carter will also lead educational and professional development sessions for Texas-based creators, offering insights into project financing, deal structure, pitching, packaging, and distribution pathways. This aligns with VYRE's mission to empower creators beyond distribution alone.
Beginning in 2026, audiences will be able to stream curated titles from Nexus Entertainment and regional acquisitions free on the VYRE app across devices including Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and via the web at https://vyre.tv. This partnership strengthens VYRE Network's position as a scalable platform for premium independent content while providing Nexus Entertainment and regional creators with global distribution and strategic infrastructure.
VYRE Network, launched in 2019, is dedicated to serving filmmakers, TV creators, and athletes by providing tools and opportunities for success through global distribution, film financing, and production support. By championing diverse voices and content, VYRE aims to bridge the gap between independent and mainstream entertainment, helping emerging talent reach broader audiences.
