The Parent Coaching Institute has launched a new initiative called Technology Success Stories, featuring audio interviews where parents share their practical approaches to managing children's technology use. Gloria DeGaetano, CEO and founder of the institute, emphasizes the importance of parent voices in addressing technology issues, stating that every child and family has unique routines for empowering healthy technology habits.
The resource showcases parents of children across all ages and developmental stages, with each interview accompanied by a brief summary on the website. One featured parent, Reem, shared her experience realizing that excessive screen time for her 3-year-old contributed to behavioral challenges, discovering through observation and parental instincts what worked for her family. Research supporting parental decisions is included where possible, such as data showing that more than four hours of daily screen time for babies and toddlers increases risks for autistic symptoms, available at https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10353907/.
Upcoming interviews will feature parents of teenagers and PCI Certified Parent Coach® Tierney Boggs, who will discuss adjusting screen time rules as children grow. Boggs, author of children's books including https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CJN8V2Q1 and parent guides like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CJN7ZQ8X, brings practical experience as a mother of three children aged 8, 5, and 3.
DeGaetano notes that the initiative focuses on real-world ideas rather than expert mandates, with parents sharing wisdom and creativity in supporting their children's development. The Parent Coaching Institute, recognized as an innovative leader in family support, offers a year-long online Parent Coach Certification® program in affiliation with Southern New Hampshire University. Applications for the 2026 Spring Term beginning in late February are being accepted until February 1, with information available at https://www.ThePCI.org.
