JC Taylor, a lifelong Kendall County resident and local business leader, has officially announced his candidacy for Kendall County Commissioner, Precinct 2. He is urging voters to participate in the March 3 Republican Primary, which is expected to determine the future of county leadership. With early voting beginning February 17, Taylor emphasizes that the primary election represents the most significant opportunity for residents to influence local government decisions regarding infrastructure and public safety.
Taylor is running on a platform built around three core priorities: long-term strategic planning, roads and water infrastructure, and fire protection and public safety. His first priority, if elected, would be implementing a five-year strategic plan for Kendall County to provide transparency, accountability, and a clear roadmap for the county's future. Taylor noted that the county currently operates without a strategic plan, making it difficult to coordinate infrastructure projects and communicate long-term goals to residents.
As growth accelerates across Precinct 2, Taylor emphasizes the need to responsibly manage development while protecting water resources and rural character. He points to recent county actions increasing minimum well lot sizes as an example of how leadership can shape development outcomes. Road safety and traffic congestion along State Highway 46 and FM 3351 are major concerns that Taylor says must be addressed through infrastructure planning that keeps pace with both residential and commercial growth.
For fire protection, Taylor supports conducting a countywide study to evaluate long-term funding and coverage needs, particularly for areas like Bergheim and Cordillera that rely on volunteer fire departments. He advocates for sustainable solutions that account for future population growth rather than short-term fixes. Coming from a family that owns and operates a Kendall County-based business, Taylor describes himself as pro-business and pro-community, believing responsible economic development is essential to keeping young families and workers in the county.
Taylor stresses the importance of the March 3 primary, noting that local elections are often decided in the primary stage in Kendall County.
