The Chapel of the Holy Chalice in Valencia Cathedral served as the venue for the official presentation and blessing of Pilgrimage Credentials for The Way of the Holy Grail, designated for the First Diocesan Youth Pilgrimage of the Holy Chalice. This event, held within the framework of the III Jubilee Year granted by the Holy See, underscores the institutional and spiritual commitment to developing this cultural itinerary.
Five hundred pilgrimage credentials were provided by the City Council of Massamagrell, with Mayor-President Francisco Gómez Laserna emphasizing the municipality's dedication to cultural and spiritual heritage linked to the Holy Chalice. The credentials were blessed by Álvaro Almenar, Canon Custodian of the Holy Chalice, in a ceremony attended by diocesan youth delegates María Sebastián and Sergio Pelarda, who promoted the initiative to engage younger generations with the Holy Chalice as a symbol of faith and history.
Dr. Ana Mafé García, president of the Cultural Association The Way of the Holy Grail, highlighted the credentials' role as instruments of welcome and recognition for contemporary pilgrims. The event also featured José Verdeguer, Canon of Heritage of Valencia Cathedral, who acknowledged the ongoing research and dissemination efforts by The Way of the Holy Grail. Institutional support was evident with attendees including José Ribes, advisor of the Cultural Association; Miquel Bailach, member of The Way of the Holy Grail and general secretary of the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces; and representatives from the International Scientific Commission for Studies of the Holy Grail, such as Dr. Fernando Molina Pons and Dr. Danielle Pimentel de Oliveira.
Tourism and cultural sector backing was demonstrated through the presence of Víctor Pérez, president of FOTUR, and Pedro Cuesta, provincial deputy of Tourism for the Provincial Council of Valencia, who both support initiatives to enhance the touristic and cultural valorization of the region. The gathering reflected growing interest in The Way of the Holy Grail as a heritage itinerary that connects individuals with their historical roots.
This act represents a step toward consolidating The Way of the Holy Grail as a reference for contemporary pilgrimage and a means of transmitting cultural and spiritual values, particularly to youth. The First Diocesan Youth Pilgrimage, scheduled for April 2026, offers young people a transformative experience involving physical journey, reflection, and community building around the Holy Chalice. Registration opens in April 2026, with the Youth Delegation of the Diocese of Valencia and the Cultural Association encouraging participation in this blend of spirituality, heritage, and coexistence.
