The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) will lead 21 technology companies and institutions to Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona, marking their debut at the startup-focused 4 Years From Now (4YFN) event running concurrently from March 2-5. This dual-pavilion approach represents a strategic expansion beyond previous participation, aiming to present a comprehensive view of Hong Kong's innovation ecosystem to global telecom leaders, enterprise decision-makers, and investors.
The delegation will showcase solutions across multiple categories including Devices and Systems, Digital Transformation, and Connectivity, supported by Ecosystem Partners. According to Iris Wong, Director of Merchandise Trade and Innovation at HKTDC, the Hong Kong Tech Pavilion serves as a platform for companies to present research and development achievements at major international gatherings while supporting their overseas market exploration. Derek Chim of HKSTP noted that MWC provides tech companies at all stages with opportunities to validate solutions, catalyze pilot projects, and accelerate commercialization.
Two companies exemplify the delegation's market-ready innovations. Shannon & Turing Technology Limited (Asmote), exhibiting at MWC, specializes in millimeter wave technology for Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC), particularly for drone communications and control. The company previously secured the world's first 26GHz mmWave 5G commercial communications project and supports Hong Kong's low-altitude economy initiatives while demonstrating efficiency in industrial applications like smart ports. Cresento Limited, presenting at 4YFN, has developed an AI-powered shin guard that delivers real-time performance analytics and team leaderboards for football players, with plans to move from prototypes to pilot collaborations with European football clubs and distributors.
The collaboration between HKTDC and HKSTP aims to accelerate the internationalization of Hong Kong's technology sector by building bridges between companies and global markets. This initiative responds to growing global demand for innovation and technology while attracting talent and facilitating forward-looking investments. The Hong Kong Tech Pavilion will host networking receptions, themed talks, and pitching sessions throughout the events to facilitate partnerships and investment opportunities.
