Angkor Resources Reports Significant Copper Mineralization at Cambodian Prospect

By Editorial Staff

TL;DR

Angkor Resources' drill results show increasing copper grades at depth, potentially offering investors early advantage in a promising Cambodian exploration project.

Drill hole AB25-009 sampled 286.2 meters averaging 0.13% copper, with deeper hornfels sections reaching 0.25% copper over 52.6 meters, indicating a porphyry copper-related skarn system.

Angkor Resources is training Cambodian geology students while pursuing mineral development that could create economic opportunities and energy independence for Cambodia.

A diamond drill hole in Cambodia found copper mineralization throughout 286 meters, with grades improving in deeper hornfels rock formed by ancient heat from diorite intrusions.

Angkor Resources Reports Significant Copper Mineralization at Cambodian Prospect

Angkor Resources Corp. has reported results from diamond drill hole AB25-009 at the Thmei North copper target on its Andong Bor mineral exploration license in Cambodia. The drill hole returned copper mineralization over the entire 286.2 metres sampled, with an overall average of 1,309 parts per million copper, and grades increased significantly at depth. The bottom 67.3 metres averaged 2,181 ppm copper, including a 52.6-metre interval grading 2,493 ppm copper, with the hole ending in mineralization.

Dennis Ouellette, VP Exploration, noted the increase in copper grade as drilling moved deeper into hornfels rock, which hosts more mineral-bearing veins. He described the deposit as a porphyry copper-related skarn system, where diorite intrusions have interacted with receptive sedimentary rocks. The presence of potassic alteration, overprinted by later alteration sequences typical of copper porphyry systems, reinforces the exploration model. Ouellette stated that with so little drilling completed, the company is in early stages but that 52.6 metres of 0.25% copper is a very good start. The technical disclosure was reviewed by Ouellette, a Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101.

The Thmei North target is defined by an approximately one-square-kilometre copper soil anomaly on flat farmland. A historical drill hole from 2016 at the nearby Thmei South target also cored diorite and hornfels with vein stockworks, though its lower portion was never sampled. Angkor Resources will assist Cambodian Institute of Technology students in studying that historical hole to provide additional data on the area's copper potential.

A second drill hole, AB25-010, was started but halted due to the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict in the region, with activities on hold until conditions allow safe resumption. The company's safety of personnel remains the top priority. Angkor Resources is a public company listed on the TSX-Venture Exchange and operates through its mineral subsidiary, Angkor Gold Corp., which holds two exploration licenses in Cambodia. Its energy subsidiary, EnerCam Resources, holds an onshore oil and gas license and is advancing exploration activities, having completed seismic in 2025 and identified multiple drill targets.

For business and technology leaders, this development highlights Cambodia's emerging potential as a source of critical minerals like copper, essential for electrification and technology infrastructure. The intersection of geology and geopolitics is evident, as border conflicts can directly impact resource development timelines. The involvement with local educational institutions, such as the Cambodian Institute of Technology, points to capacity-building efforts that could foster long-term regional expertise in resource sectors. The technical results suggest a viable copper system, though further drilling is required to assess economic viability. In a global context, discoveries in underexplored regions like Cambodia could contribute to diversifying the copper supply chain, which is increasingly concentrated and faces growing demand from renewable energy and AI infrastructure projects.
