SS Innovations International, Inc. has announced regulatory approval for telesurgeries using its SSi Mantra surgical robotic system in Indonesia and the Philippines. The company also reported successfully completing more than 150 cumulative telesurgeries with the system, primarily in India. This expansion represents a significant step in making advanced robotic surgery accessible across geographical boundaries.
The approval for telesurgeries in two new Southeast Asian markets comes as the company demonstrates growing real-world adoption of its technology. Recent highlights include an eight-hour session on February 14, 2026, during which 18 inter-hospital telesurgeries were performed between two Indian cities. These included 13 gastric bypass procedures performed by Dr. Mohit Bhandari from Mohak Bariatrics and Robotics in Indore and 5 complex gynecological surgeries performed by Dr. Priya Bhave Chittawar from HER Health Hospital in Bhopal.
All procedures utilized the SSi MantrAsana Tele Surgeon Console, a compact chair-based version of the larger surgeon command center that enables portability and requires less space. This design facilitates telesurgeries from various settings, including physician offices, expanding the potential locations from which remote surgical expertise can be delivered.
The company previously demonstrated the system's capabilities during a robotic telesurgery marathon on December 23, 2025, when nine surgeons performed 24 telesurgeries within 12 hours on patients across multiple Indian locations. These procedures included ten different types of surgeries, including intricate cardiac operations, showcasing the system's versatility across specialties.
Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, Chairman and CEO of SS Innovations, stated that the SSi Mantra system is pioneering telesurgery in real-world practice with rapidly growing adoption by leading physicians. He emphasized that the system's advanced telesurgery capabilities enable cross-sharing of physician expertise and dismantle traditional geographical barriers to care, furthering the company's mission of driving equitable access to quality healthcare.
The SSi Mantra surgical robotic system features 3 to 5 modular robotic arms, an open-faced ergonomic surgeon command center, a large 3D 4K monitor, and the ability to superimpose 3D models of diagnostic imaging. The system utilizes over 40 different types of robotic endo-surgical instruments to support various specialties, including cardiac surgery, and has been clinically validated in India in more than 100 different surgical procedures.
SS Innovations will showcase the SSi Mantra's capabilities at the Global Multi-Specialty Robotic Surgery Conference 2026 in New Delhi from April 9-11, where more than 20 live telesurgeries will be performed using the system across multiple specialties. Conference registration is available at https://ssinnovations.com/SMRSC_2026/register/.
The expansion into Indonesia and the Philippines, combined with the milestone of over 150 successful telesurgeries, indicates growing traction for remote surgical solutions that could transform healthcare delivery in regions with limited access to specialized surgical expertise. This development represents a significant advancement in making robotic surgery affordable and accessible to a larger segment of the global population.
