Washington Square Entertainment and New Tang Dynasty Television (Canada) have finalized an agreement to develop a scripted drama series based on John Moody's acclaimed Hui Trilogy of books. The series, currently titled Of Course They Knew…, will be adapted for television by International Emmy-nominated David Cormican and Emmy-nominated Dwayne Hill.
The geopolitical conspiracy thriller explores the silent collapse of Western society as it falls under the influence of a covert global campaign driven by disinformation, artificial intelligence, and psychological warfare. Told through the intertwined lives of ordinary citizens across multiple continents, the series examines how truth itself becomes the most dangerous weapon in a new kind of global conflict.
The project is being developed for NTD (Canada) as part of the broadcaster's expanding slate of premium scripted drama with international appeal, in association with the Canada Media Fund. David Cormican, who will serve as showrunner alongside Dwayne Hill, stated that partnering with NTD allows them to bring an urgent and deeply relevant story to the screen at a time when the boundaries between information, propaganda, and power have never been more blurred. He described Moody's trilogy as reading like tomorrow's headlines and believes it has the scope and scale to become a truly global television event.
