BOXABL Inc. (NASDAQ: BXBL), a factory-built construction company known for its affordable housing solutions, has introduced a new concept aimed at the rapidly expanding data center market. The company unveiled its Server Pod concept, a design study for modular, factory-assembled enclosures intended to house AI and cloud computing infrastructure. While the concept is not currently in production, it signals BOXABL's ambition to apply its manufacturing expertise to a sector facing significant growth and operational challenges.
The Server Pod concept is designed to demonstrate BOXABL's factory capabilities and to invite collaboration with data center developers, operators, and equipment vendors. The company is seeking custom design and manufacturing partnerships, with configurations ranging from a 10-foot Server Pod envisioned at a 0.5 petaflop tier to a 2,500-square-foot Server Tron envisioned at 16 petaflop operations per second. Actual configurations, engineering, cooling approaches, and equipment would be determined in partnership with customers, as the company emphasizes flexibility and customization.
BOXABL's move comes as the data center industry faces unprecedented demand driven by AI and cloud computing. Citing JLL’s 2026 Global Data Center Market Outlook, the company noted that the sector is expected to grow at a 14% compound annual growth rate through 2030, with roughly 100 GW of new capacity coming online from 2026 through 2030. This expansion could require up to $3 trillion in total investment, according to the report. BOXABL believes its factory-built, repeatable structures could help address speed, cost, and labor challenges that are plaguing traditional data center construction.
The company is actively seeking engagement with data center developers, hyperscalers, colocation providers, equipment manufacturers, and other partners interested in contracting BOXABL to design and manufacture custom modular structures. However, BOXABL noted there is no assurance that any agreement will be reached or that any Server Pod or similar product will be built. The announcement is a strategic move to position the company as a potential player in the modular infrastructure space, leveraging its existing manufacturing capabilities.
BOXABL, headquartered in North Las Vegas, has raised over $230 million from more than 50,000 investors since its inception in 2017. The company is dedicated to transforming the housing industry with innovative technology, and its flagship product, the Casita, is a 361-square-foot studio unit that unfolds on-site in under an hour. The company also offers the smaller 120-square-foot Baby Box and is developing stackable and connectable modules for larger residential applications. BOXABL began trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market under the ticker symbol “BXBL” on July 20, 2026, following its business combination with FG Merger II Corp.
This diversification into data center infrastructure could open new revenue streams for BOXABL, but it also faces competition from established modular data center providers. The company's success will depend on its ability to secure partnerships and deliver solutions that meet the rigorous demands of AI and cloud workloads. For industry leaders, this development underscores the growing intersection of construction and technology, as modular approaches gain traction in addressing infrastructure bottlenecks. As the data center market continues to expand, innovative manufacturing methods like those proposed by BOXABL could play a crucial role in meeting global demand.
