FleetCollect, a trucking-compliance software platform, has introduced a new Community section inside its IFTA app for iPhone and Android that converts mileage drivers already log for quarterly fuel-tax filings into a nationwide leaderboard, experience points and levels, and a shared social feed. The feature, available now, aims to combat the isolation of long-haul trucking by building community directly on the work drivers already do.
The Community leaderboard ranks drivers by total GPS miles driven for IFTA reporting across weekly and monthly windows. It displays the top 50 drivers platform-wide, along with each driver's own rank, and awards gold, silver, and bronze medals for top finishers. Rank-change arrows show movement compared to prior periods, and leaderboards reset every Monday and on the first of each month. Top 10 finishers are recorded, and badges for first, second, third, and top 10 finishes accumulate permanently on driver profiles.
Drivers earn experience points (XP) for real operating activity: completing a trip (10 XP plus 5 XP per 100 miles), logging a fuel stop (3 XP), opening the app daily (5 XP), setting a username (one-time 25 XP), and posting in the feed (1 XP, capped at 10 per day). Each level costs 50 XP multiplied by the level number, and avatar color rings change as drivers level up.
The Drivers Lounge is a global feed where drivers can post text, images, video, and GIFs, with likes and threaded replies. Automatic milestone announcements post on a driver's behalf when they complete a trip, cross lifetime mileage milestones, level up, or enter the weekly top 10, keeping the community active even while drivers are on the road.
Privacy is built in by default: drivers appear as "Driver #" followed by an ID until they opt in to display a username and photo. Real names are never shown across companies. Profiles display lifetime miles, trips, day streak, level and XP, a grid of leaderboard finishes, and public post and reply history.
"Every community app for truckers asks them to stop working and go somewhere else — a forum, a Discord server, a map," said Herman Armstrong, founder of FleetCollect. "We built ours on the work itself. The miles you track for IFTA are the miles that rank you. If you drove this week, you're already on the board."
"Nobody wakes up excited about fuel-tax paperwork," Armstrong added. "But every driver wants to know where they stack up against drivers in the other 49 states."
The Community is available to all drivers inside the FleetCollect IFTA app, which provides automatic state-by-state GPS mileage tracking and quarterly IFTA report generation from $14 per month. Details are available at https://fleetcollect.net/community.
