FWD Group Celebrates 13 Years with Charitable Grants to Support Over 13,000 People Across Asia

FWD Group Holdings Limited (“FWD Group” or “FWD”) has announced a series of charitable grants to mark its 13th anniversary, aiming to support over 13,000 people across its operating markets in Asia. The company, which began operations in 2013 in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Thailand, has since expanded into a pan-Asian life and health insurer serving millions of customers across 10 markets. In July last year, FWD Group achieved a significant milestone with its listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under the stock code 1828.

The 13 grants are designed to address a range of community needs, including financial literacy, career readiness, entrepreneurship, health and wellbeing, and community recovery. These initiatives will be implemented in partnership with local organizations, reflecting FWD’s commitment to making a positive social impact. Huynh Thanh Phong, Group Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of FWD Group, emphasized the importance of giving back to the communities that have been part of the company’s journey. “At FWD Group, changing the way people feel about insurance is about much more than looking after our customers – it’s also about supporting the communities where we operate,” he said. “These 13 grants are a meaningful way to give back to the people and places that have been part of our journey. Together with trusted community partners, we hope to make a real difference in people’s lives, while also bringing our caring value to life through employee volunteering.”

The grants will support initiatives across several Asian markets. In Hong Kong SAR, FWD will extend the JA SparktheDream Wellness Programme with Junior Achievement Hong Kong to equip 2,600 primary school students with social, emotional, and financial skills. Additionally, support will be provided for children and caregivers affected by the Tai Po fire through a football-based programme with Save the Children Hong Kong, and for community recovery efforts led by Plan International Hong Kong, benefiting over 6,500 students, parents, and teachers. In Cambodia, JCI Mekong will deliver financial education workshops to 200 young people, while in Indonesia, the InnovateHer Academy 4.0 with KUMPUL will empower 10 female entrepreneurs. Japan’s Hands On Tokyo will conduct football clinics for visually impaired individuals, and Malaysia’s GivingHub will provide health education and financial literacy workshops for 170 low-income families, along with 100 cancer screening sessions. In the Philippines, Junior Achievement Philippines will help 100 university students transition to the workforce, and in Singapore, Club Rainbow will organize a carnival for 50 children with chronic illnesses and their caregivers. Thailand will see hospitality training scholarships for seven disadvantaged youth via the Pimali Foundation and the expansion of the JA SparktheDream programme with Junior Achievement Thailand to train 30 educators. In Vietnam, Startup Vietnam Foundation and Dear Our Community will empower 800 students with financial literacy workshops and debates, while Little Roses Foundation will provide 76 computers to schools in Khanh Hoa Province, enabling 1,800 students to continue learning after flood damage.

These initiatives underscore FWD’s broader mission to move the life insurance industry in a new direction by being customer-led and tech-enabled. By investing in community programs, FWD not only enhances its corporate social responsibility but also strengthens its brand presence and trust in the region. For business leaders, this highlights the importance of integrating social impact into corporate strategy, which can lead to long-term sustainability and customer loyalty. The grants also demonstrate a model for other corporations to follow in supporting education, health, and economic empowerment, which are critical for the development of Asia’s emerging economies.
