The patent protects the use of the secreted Klotho (“s-KL”) RNA splice variant in genetic therapies and includes 42 claims covering its synthesis, delivery methods and potential application across multiple neurological disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (“ALS”) and multiple sclerosis.

The company said the Canadian patent expands its intellectual property portfolio for Klotho-based therapeutics and complements previously issued patents in the United States, China and Europe.
