The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) announced its support for the 108th Lions International Convention 2026, being held from July 3 to 7 at AsiaWorld-Expo. This marks the third time Hong Kong has hosted the event, after previous editions in 1992 and 2005, making it one of the few cities among more than 200 Lions member countries and regions worldwide to achieve this distinction. The convention is expected to draw around 17,000 delegates from across the globe, underscoring Hong Kong's status as the Events Capital of Asia and the World's Meeting Place.
Dr. Peter Lam, Chairman of HKTB, emphasized the significance of the event's return. "HKTB is delighted to partner with the Lions Clubs International District 303 Hong Kong and Macao, China, to bring this Convention to Hong Kong for the third time. Its return affirms Hong Kong's position as the World's Meeting Place and a top-of-mind destination for MICE tourism," he said. Dr. Lam highlighted the city's integrated strengths, including world-class MICE infrastructure, global aviation connectivity, diverse tourism offerings, and quality hospitality services, as key factors in attracting international events and encouraging repeat visits.
Lions Clubs International is one of the world's largest service organizations, with over 1.4 million members and around 50,000 district clubs across more than 200 countries and regions since its founding in 1917. The convention provides a platform for members to discuss the future of international services and community initiatives.
Dr. Tam Wing-kun, Honorary Chairman of the Lions International Convention 2026 and Past International President, noted Hong Kong's unique appeal. "Hong Kong is an international metropolis where Eastern and Western cultures converge. With its well-developed professional services and comprehensive MICE infrastructure, Hong Kong is an ideal host for this international mega event," he said. Delegates will experience Hong Kong's world-class cuisine and rich cultural appeal, becoming ambassadors who share the city's stories globally.
A highlight of the convention is an attempt to set a world record with thousands of international Lions practicing Tai Chi simultaneously, promoting exercise and deepening understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals.
HKTB has partnered with local travel trade and major attractions to offer exclusive itineraries and deals for delegates, including transport offers, attraction tickets, shopping mall discounts, gift redemptions, and theme park deals, encouraging them to extend their stay and explore Hong Kong's culture and cuisine.
This event reinforces Hong Kong's competitiveness as a top-tier destination for both business and leisure tourism.
