Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK), a member of the Task Force on Supporting Mainland Enterprises in Going Global (GoGlobal Task Force), will lead a seven-day delegation to Canada starting September 20, aiming to support Mainland enterprises in expanding their global business. The visit, one of the outbound missions supervised by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, will be led by Ms Loretta Lee, Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion at InvestHK, and will include Chinese Mainland companies in sustainability and life and health sciences. The delegation will visit Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton.
The visit is designed to help Chinese Mainland enterprises understand local ecosystems and align their global expansion needs, while also attracting Canadian businesses in these strategic sectors to invest in Hong Kong, thereby driving new growth impetus. According to Ms Lee, "Canada is globally recognised for its exceptional research talent, clean technology leadership, and established life sciences ecosystem. As more Mainland green technology and life and health sciences enterprises pursue international growth through Hong Kong, they bring not only capital and access to one of the world's largest markets, but also serve as ideal partners for Canadian companies seeking to explore Asia and beyond. We are keen to build fresh synergies with Canadian businesses to strengthen innovation, collaboration, and investment flows."
During the visit, the delegation will meet with local institutions, chambers of commerce, and industry associations. They will also hold targeted discussions with leading Canadian green tech and healthcare enterprises, visit universities and research parks, and participate in sector-specific roundtables and business networking sessions.
This mission underscores Hong Kong's role as a super-connector between Mainland China and global markets. For business leaders, the delegation signals potential opportunities for cross-border partnerships, investment, and market access in two high-growth sectors. The focus on sustainability and life and health sciences aligns with global trends toward green technology and healthcare innovation, areas where both Canada and Hong Kong have competitive strengths. As Mainland enterprises seek international expansion, Hong Kong's unique position under "one country, two systems" provides a gateway to Asia and beyond. For Canadian companies, the visit offers a chance to explore investment and collaboration opportunities in Hong Kong and the broader region. The outcomes of this mission could influence future trade and investment flows between Canada and Asia, particularly in clean technology and life sciences.
The initiative is part of broader efforts by the GoGlobal Task Force to support Mainland enterprises in navigating international markets. By facilitating direct engagement with Canadian stakeholders, the delegation aims to foster mutual economic growth and innovation.
