Intellitec Solutions, a trusted enterprise resource planning (ERP) advisor and reseller, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this week. The milestone, according to the company, is not about looking back, but about recognizing how far the team's expertise has come alongside the technology it supports. The company's journey began not as a software vendor, but as a problem-solving arm of an accounting firm in 1986.
Clients kept returning to the firm with a common frustration: their accounting software wasn't meeting their needs, and they couldn't find anyone to fix it. The firm's team, leveraging their CPA knowledge, stepped in to resolve these issues and discovered a knack for it. This expertise quickly grew into a standalone business, Intellitec Solutions, founded on the principle of helping clients use technology more intelligently, not just selling them more software.
"That's the part of our story I'm proudest of," said Rick Sommer, President of Intellitec Solutions and a member of the founding team. "We didn't start out trying to sell anyone anything. We started out solving a problem our clients actually had. Twenty-five years later, that's still the whole job. Helping organizations use technology intelligently, not just use more of it. Everything else we've built follows from that."
Over the past quarter-century, the technology landscape has transformed dramatically, from on-premise servers to cloud-native platforms, and from manual data entry to automated, real-time reporting. Yet, the team behind Intellitec has remained remarkably stable. Fourteen of the company's employees have been with the firm since its earliest days, and their accumulated expertise has become a sharp competitive advantage. This deep experience allows them to apply more than two decades of pattern recognition to whatever platform a client is currently using.
That growth is also reflected in the company's expansion. What started as a fourteen-person team has grown into a 42-person practice, and Intellitec is now recognized as one of the leading Sage and Microsoft Dynamics partners in the industry. This success has been bolstered by a strong network of technology partners, including PointClickCare and Solver, whose platforms Intellitec has helped clients implement and optimize.
"The tools we use today look nothing like the ones we started on, and honestly, that's the fun part of the job. There's always something new to learn," said Tom Rogers, Senior ERP Advisor at Intellitec and one of the company's first fourteen employees. "But the instinct for what a client actually needs hasn't changed since day one. If anything, having seen so many platforms and so many trends come and go makes it easier to tell clients what's actually going to matter for their business, and what's just noise."
The significance of this anniversary extends beyond the company itself. In an industry where technology churn is constant, Intellitec's longevity and stability provide a counterpoint to the disposable nature of many tech solutions. For business leaders, the takeaway is clear: the value of an ERP system is not just in the software, but in the expertise and continuity of the team behind it. As Intellitec marks this milestone, the company plans to celebrate throughout the year with content spotlighting its team, clients, and lessons learned from a quarter-century of ERP implementations and support.
The company's history underscores a fundamental principle: technology is only as good as the guidance behind it. As Intellitec looks to the future, its mission remains unchanged from its founding—to help organizations turn technology into a true business advantage.
