MAX Power Mining Corp. (CSE: MAXX; OTC: MAXXF; FRANKFURT: 89N) has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the City of Moose Jaw to jointly explore strategic opportunities related to natural hydrogen commercialization within the Regina-Moose Jaw Industrial Corridor. This partnership supports the advancement of the company’s Lawson Natural Hydrogen project toward commercial validation, according to a press release from the company.
The MOU is intended to align regional infrastructure, industrial development, policy and economic initiatives as MAX Power works to position Saskatchewan as a potential hub for domestically sourced clean energy innovation and long-term economic growth. The company’s Lawson Discovery near Central Butte, Saskatchewan, represents Canada’s first-ever subsurface Natural Hydrogen system confirmed through deep drilling, with data validated by three independent labs.
MAX Power has built dominant district-scale land positions across Saskatchewan with approximately 1.3 million acres (521,000 hectares) of permits covering prime exploration ground prospective for large-volume accumulations of Natural Hydrogen. The company also holds a portfolio of properties in the United States and Canada focused on critical minerals, highlighted by a 2024 diamond drilling discovery at the Willcox Playa Lithium Project in southeast Arizona, 100%-owned by MAX Power’s U.S. subsidiary.
The implications of this announcement are significant for the clean energy sector. Natural hydrogen, also known as white hydrogen, is a naturally occurring form of hydrogen that could provide a low-cost, low-carbon energy source. By partnering with Moose Jaw, MAX Power aims to leverage existing infrastructure and policy support to accelerate the development of this emerging resource. For industry leaders, this signals a growing interest in natural hydrogen as a viable alternative to green hydrogen produced via electrolysis.
For the region, the partnership could spur economic development and position Saskatchewan as a leader in clean energy innovation. The Regina-Moose Jaw Industrial Corridor offers strategic advantages in terms of transportation, energy infrastructure, and industrial base. If successful, the Lawson project could serve as a model for natural hydrogen exploration and production elsewhere in Canada and globally.
MAX Power is committed to responsible exploration and development practices that prioritize environmental stewardship, meaningful community engagement, and strong corporate governance. The company’s focus on decarbonization aligns with global trends toward reducing carbon emissions and transitioning to cleaner energy sources.
