When Monkee's of Fair Oaks Ranch opens its doors on August 20, owner Kelli Hull will make a promise that has nothing to do with the brands on the racks: that no one will ever leave her store in something that doesn't look phenomenal on them. That promise is set to become the boutique's signature, representing a deliberate bet that in an era of self-checkout and shrinking customer service, women are looking for an experience, not just a transaction.
"People are a little bit frustrated with a lack of customer service, not only in retail but in industries at large," Hull said. "We want every single person who comes in to feel a very elevated, experiential shopping experience."
The boutique, located in the Lemon Creek Ranch development near Fair Oaks Ranch and Boerne, Texas, will focus on hospitality. Customers will be invited to sit on a couch, enjoy a glass of wine, and chat with friends while the staff provides head-to-toe wardrobing. "Having a glass of wine, sitting on the couch talking to your girlfriends about your events and what's going on in your life and your family; that's going to be something that everyone experiences," Hull said. The service extends to honest, encouraging guidance, with Hull noting, "A lot of women just need someone to say, 'You're beautiful, that looks good on you, but I think we can do even better.'"
Beyond everyday shopping, Monkee's of Fair Oaks Ranch will host private events after hours, dedicated to a single customer and her circle. These events can accommodate birthdays, girls' nights, bridal parties, and seasonal gatherings. With fall events and the holiday party season approaching, Hull expects demand to build quickly.
In a twist most retailers don't offer, the store will be closed to the public on Sundays but open by private appointment. This caters to busy, traveling customers. "If you're a busy traveling mom like I used to be, you can call the store and say, 'I want to come in Sunday afternoon at two o'clock,'" Hull said. "We'll meet you there, and it's just you in the store telling us what you need. If you tell us in advance what you're looking for, we'll go ahead and pull some styles for you and wardrobe you from head to toe and get you on your way."
For Hull, the emphasis on service is personal. A self-described lifelong fashionista, she has navigated her own seasons of not knowing what to wear, including after having children. "That season after we have children is very difficult for women. I used to dread going to events simply because I didn't know what to wear and nothing was fitting properly," Hull said. "A lot of women feel that way, and they just need someone to bounce ideas off of."
This commitment is encapsulated in Hull's "solemn vow" that no one will leave the store in something that doesn't look phenomenal. The store opens August 20, 2026, and customers can book private events or Sunday appointments by calling the store.
