Recruitment Operating System (ROS®) has announced the release of an updated and expanded Franchise Recruitment Manual, developed in collaboration with FranMan, a leader in creating professional operating manuals. This marks the first significant update since 2021 and aims to align the resource with the current practices of high-performing franchise recruitment teams.
The updated manual integrates timeless recruitment principles with modern tools and best practices, acknowledging that while the fundamentals of great recruitment remain unchanged, the tools, data, and technology available to recruiters have evolved. Art Coley, founder and CEO of ROS®, emphasized the need to bring these pieces together without complicating the recruitment process. “Our job is to bring those pieces together without making recruitment more complicated,” he said, noting the goal is to make an already powerful resource more relevant to today’s champion recruiters.
The manual serves as a practical framework for franchise sales and development teams, outlining roles, responsibilities, and how to guide candidates through ROS®’ proprietary 8-Step recruitment process. Since the last major update, the pace and process of franchise recruiting have changed significantly, with recruiters now having access to expanded datasets, AI-driven technologies, and more sophisticated candidate intelligence. The new edition aims to combine those advancements with trusted recruitment principles.
Key updates in the manual include a new section on Recruitment Analytics, which teaches recruiters to use data and performance metrics to understand their pipeline, identify improvement opportunities, and make better decisions. The manual also incorporates Artificial Intelligence best practices, guiding recruiters on responsible AI use to support their work. Additionally, it expands on Recruiter Behaviors & Performance, addressing daily, weekly, and monthly habits of high performers, including how and when to review performance.
Other new content addresses Different Types of Franchise Buyers, providing context for recruiting beyond traditional individual buyers to include multi-unit, institutional, portfolio, and other sophisticated candidates. The manual also strengthens guidance on Candidate Funding, focusing on timeless best practices rather than specific vendors, and expands FDD & Recruitment Process Best Practices to help recruiters guide candidates through critical stages. Finally, it explores Modern Learning & Content Integration, connecting the manual with other ROS® educational resources like ROS Academy™, video, and digital content for a more integrated learning experience.
Lennon Coley, VP of Analytics at ROS®, highlighted the significance of the analytics expansion. “Historically, we’ve been very clear in our belief that analytics shouldn’t be limited to what you can access in an executive report - the information is far too valuable,” he said. “We believe recruiters should have a crystal-clear understanding of their own numbers, including how they operate and where best to apply them. What we’ve accomplished by expanding our guidance in the analytics space is in tying their importance directly to recruiter behaviors and execution - which represents a significant step forward in the process.”
The updated manual is expected to advance recruiting industry best practices by accounting for the latest developments in procedures, tools, resources, and techniques, as well as sophisticated candidate behaviors. It offers franchise recruitment professionals a holistic approach to continuous improvement and outcomes. ROS® helps franchise brands recruit more franchisees through lead generation, sales process management, advanced analytics, and executive reporting, and partners with organizations to improve pipeline performance and accelerate responsible system growth.
