Rubean AG's SoftPOS App Reaches 150,000 Active Terminals, Recurring Revenue Expected to More Than Double by 2026

Rubean AG, a fintech company based in Munich, announced that its SoftPOS payment acceptance software is now available on over 150,000 active terminals, nearly double the approximately 80,000 terminals reported in early July 2025. The company, listed on m:access and other trading venues under the symbol R1B:GR, expects this growth to drive significant revenue increases.

“The significant increase in user numbers underscores our recently published forecast regarding the Rubean Group’s revenue and earnings performance,” said Rubean Co-CEO Jochen Pielage. At the annual shareholders’ meeting in early July, the Executive Board forecasted consolidated revenue for this year to reach between 5.0 million and 6.0 million euros, up from 3.71 million euros in the previous year. Recurring revenue is expected to more than double in 2026.

Rubean’s SoftPOS technology transforms standard smartphones into payment terminals, eliminating the need for additional hardware. This approach enables retailers, restaurants, delivery services, and other businesses to accept cashless and mobile payments seamlessly. The company is already a market leader in Germany and Spain.

“Thanks to the continued significant growth in the use of our SoftPOS app, we will reach monthly breakeven in 2027 and close the entire year with a positive net income for the first time,” emphasized Co-CEO Stephan Kuck. The milestone of 150,000 active terminals highlights the accelerating adoption of software-based point-of-sale solutions, which offer flexibility and lower costs compared to traditional card readers.

For business leaders, this growth signals a broader shift toward software-only payment acceptance, reducing reliance on physical hardware and enabling faster deployment. The impact on the payment industry includes increased competition for traditional terminal providers and expanded access for small merchants. Rubean’s solution supports girocard (EC card) in Germany, a key differentiator in the domestic market.

Rubean AG, through its PhonePOS solution, provides a software-only point-of-sale solution for banks, acquirers, and merchants. The company’s technology is used by payment service providers, major banks, retailers, and large retail chains across Europe. For more information, visit www.rubean.com.
