SBI Global Asset Management (SBI GAM) and DigiFT, a regulated digital asset exchange, have launched the SBI Japan High Dividend Equity Strategy Token (JX token), marking the first time a Japanese asset manager's listed-equity strategy has been brought on-chain. The token, built on Solana, offers accredited and institutional investors access to a Japanese high-dividend equity fund managed by SBI Asset Management, a subsidiary of SBI GAM. This development leverages DigiFT's regulated tokenization and distribution infrastructure, which holds Capital Markets Services and Recognised Market Operator licenses from the Monetary Authority of Singapore, as well as Type 1 and Type 4 licenses from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission.
The launch comes amid renewed investor interest in Japanese equities, driven by the Tokyo Stock Exchange's push for improved capital efficiency and share-price performance. It also reflects a broader trend in tokenization: the value of tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) on public blockchains grew from $5.9 billion to $21.9 billion globally in 2025, expanding beyond cash-like instruments into actively managed public-market strategies. DigiFT was an early mover, having launched a tokenized U.S. equity income fund with BNY in January 2026. This shift now extends into Japan, where SBI Group has been a key builder of on-chain financial infrastructure.
SBI Holdings, the parent company of SBI GAM, brings substantial on-chain experience to the partnership. The group reported consolidated revenue of JPY 1.90 trillion for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026, with its Crypto-asset Business segment generating JPY 89.6 billion. SBI Holdings has invested across the region's tokenization infrastructure, including leading a $50 million investment in Startale Group to build a blockchain for tokenized securities and holding a majority stake in Osaka Digital Exchange, which operates a secondary market for security tokens in Japan.
The JX token is structured around the underlying strategy managed by SBI AM, an authorized manager-referenced model. This approach aligns with regulatory guidance from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission staff, who in a joint statement on January 28, 2026, distinguished between issuer-sponsored tokenized securities, which represent true ownership, and third-party products that offer synthetic exposure or custodial entitlements. The SEC's statement signals an intent to encourage the former while curbing the latter.
DigiFT's roster of partners already includes UBS Asset Management, Invesco, BNY, and Franklin Templeton. With SBI GAM, DigiFT adds a Japanese listed-equity strategy to its lineup. The JX token is launching on Solana, with ecosystem participants including Solana Company, Huma Finance, and Plume. Henry Zhang, Founder and Group CEO of DigiFT, stated: "Our mission at DigiFT has always been to bring real, institutional-grade assets on-chain through infrastructure that investors and asset managers can actually trust. JX extends that mission to Japan for the first time, opening regulated, on-chain access to Japanese equities."
