Nelson, a graduate of Weatherford College's Barber Program, has spent two years in the industry. Growing up as the child of a hairstylist, he learned the trade by watching his mother. His passion for cutting hair has evolved into a full-time career, and he is excited to operate his own shop. “I have a lot of passion for what I'm doing,” Nelson said. “I take my time with each client, to make certain that I execute the image they had in mind, along with providing laidback, chill vibes. It's important to me that every client leaves feeling confident again.”
At SevensCutAbove, Nelson provides sharp, detailed cuts including fades, low drops, tapers, hot-lather shaves, and beard shape-ups. He specializes in sensory-safe cuts, which are ideal for individuals dealing with sensory issues due to special needs or past haircut trauma. These cuts incorporate a soothing environment with softer lighting or quieter spaces, flexible pacing, and breaks as needed. If hair clippers cause distress, Nelson uses scissors. He also accommodates clients who find sitting in the chair overwhelming. “As a sensory-safe barber, I've learned how to work with kids in the spectrum,” Nelson said. “My goal is to create trust, not trauma.”
Beyond haircuts, Nelson offers quick line-ups around the ears and neckline, beard shape-ups, hot-lather partial or full-face shaves, and simple cornrows.
