Single Social Club Launches Activity-First Platform to Combat Dating-App Burnout

Single Social Club, a new social platform designed to address dating-app burnout, has launched its initial community in Tampa Bay, Florida. Created by professional matchmaker Felicity G. Morgan, founder of Assured Matchmaking, and co-founded with technology lead Greg Miceli, the platform aims to help singles meet through shared activities rather than traditional swiping. The launch comes as many users report fatigue with conventional dating apps, which often prioritize rapid judgment based on photos and brief profiles.

At its core, Single Social Club removes the swipe feature entirely. Instead, members choose from over 157 activity options, ranging from kayaking and pickleball to dining, trivia, fitness, and entertainment. They specify how far they are willing to travel, select preferred age ranges for socializing, and indicate their availability. The platform's technology then identifies overlapping interests and schedules to form small groups, typically of six to eight people. This approach eliminates the back-and-forth messaging often required to coordinate plans. As Morgan explained, "If you're free Saturday from two to seven and somebody else is free from three to six, we don't need six text messages asking, 'What time works for you?' We already have the overlap."

To further ease social interaction, Single Social Club uses code names like Bee, Fox, Moon, or Turtle within activity groups. This allows members to communicate without immediately sharing personal contact information. A verification process is in place before participation, with privacy and safety as core considerations. However, the platform acknowledges that no system can guarantee another person's behavior. Morgan noted, "We wanted people to have some breathing room. You don't need to know someone's entire dating résumé before you've even bowled a frame with them."

The timing of the launch reflects growing concerns about modern dating dynamics. Viral formats like "Pop the Balloon" emphasize immediate rejection, while "Love Is Blind" tests connection without physical appearance. Morgan believes such trends highlight a tendency to eliminate potential matches prematurely. "We've gotten incredibly efficient at disqualifying each other," she said. "A picture. Height. Shoes. A job title. One sentence in a profile. Sometimes we're deciding what somebody isn't before we've had an opportunity to experience who they are." Single Social Club reverses this sequence: activity first, person second, with romance only if it naturally develops.

The platform is not solely for those seeking relationships. It also targets individuals emerging from breakups, newly divorced parents, professionals with limited social circles, and those taking a break from dating. Research on dating-app use has increasingly examined burnout and emotional exhaustion, which Morgan sees regularly in her matchmaking work. She emphasized, "Sometimes you don't need another date. Sometimes you need to go live. Go do something you've always wanted to try. Meet some people. Maybe you make a friend. Maybe you discover something about yourself. Maybe somebody catches your attention. And maybe nobody does."

If a connection does occur, members can privately indicate interest after an activity. Mutual interest is recognized by the platform, and Assured Matchmaking can optionally provide support to explore the relationship further. There is no public rejection or popularity metric. The technology is designed to facilitate real-world interactions, as Miceli explained: "Most technology is designed to keep you on the screen. We're building something that's supposed to help you get off the screen. The technology handles the coordination, finds the overlap and helps form the group. Then the real experience happens in the real world."

Single Social Club is a web app accessible via browser, and can be saved to a phone's home screen for app-like use. While accessible beyond Florida, initial efforts are concentrated in Tampa Bay, with plans to expand as participation grows. Introductory access is available for $1 for the first 30 days, after which membership renews at $20 per month for the Basic plan, including up to five activity opportunities monthly. Additional costs for activities, venues, food, tickets, or transportation are separate. Morgan's invitation is straightforward: "Don't join because I promised you're going to meet the love of your life. I can't promise that, and neither can anybody else. Join because there's something you've been wanting to do. Go do it. Let life surprise you from there." For more information, visit Single Social Club.
