SS Innovations Completes 4,500-Mile Telesurgery Demonstration at Australian Surgeons Congress

SS Innovations International, Inc. (Nasdaq: SSII) announced the successful completion of a long-distance cross-border telesurgery, demonstrating the capabilities of its SSi Mantra surgical robotic system and SSi MantrAsana tele-surgeon console. The procedure, performed on May 2, 2026, connected a surgeon at the Royal Australian College of Surgeons Annual Scientific Congress in Perth, Australia, to a patient in Indore, India—a distance of more than 4,500 miles.

The surgery, a robotic gastrojejunostomy, was performed by Dr. Mohit Bhandari, President of IRCAD India, using the SSi MantrAsana console. This compact, self-contained chair-based version of the standard surgeon command center is designed for portability and enables telesurgeries from various locations, including physician offices. The system features ultra-low latency connectivity, high-definition visualization, and precise instrument control, allowing real-time remote procedures.

To date, more than 170 telesurgeries, including complex cardiac procedures, have been performed with the SSi Mantra system. Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, Chairman and CEO of SS Innovations, stated, “We thank the Royal Australian College of Surgeons for this opportunity to demonstrate the advanced telesurgery capabilities of our SSi Mantra surgical robotic system. We believe that telesurgery has the power to transform traditional healthcare delivery and democratize access to global surgical expertise.”

This demonstration underscores the potential for telesurgery to bridge geographic gaps in surgical care, particularly in underserved regions. By enabling specialists to operate remotely, the technology could reduce the need for patient travel and allow for timely interventions. For business leaders, this represents a shift toward more scalable and cost-effective healthcare delivery models, with implications for hospital networks, surgical training, and medical device markets.

The SSi Mantra system is a modular, multi-arm robotic platform with advanced features, including 3 to 5 robotic arms, an open-faced ergonomic surgeon console, a large 3D 4K monitor, and a virtual real-time image of patient side arm carts. It supports over 40 types of robotic endo-surgical instruments for various specialties, including cardiac surgery, and 5mm instruments for pediatric and ENT procedures. The optional SSi MantrAsana console enhances portability and telesurgery capability.

SS Innovations, headquartered in India, aims to make robotic surgery affordable and accessible globally. The company plans to expand its presence with its user-friendly and cost-effective solutions.
