Verite Capital Partners has appointed Sumit Majumdar as Vice Chairman, Chief Sustainability Officer, and Operating Partner, marking a significant expansion of the firm's commitment to environmental sustainability, industrial job creation, and economic development for underserved communities. Don Jones, Chairman and Managing Partner, announced the appointment, citing Majumdar's vision for economically viable green initiatives in employment, energy, and agriculture.
Majumdar brings over two decades of experience from Buffalo Biodiesel Inc., where he served as President and grew the company into a major multi-state enterprise serving more than 30,000 locations. His expertise in industrial scaling, circular economy frameworks, and advanced material science will be instrumental in Verite's strategy to deploy capital at scale for long-term global impact. The firm currently manages $7 billion in obligations and over $20 billion in committed investments.
In his new role, Majumdar will oversee an international initiative to establish over one million green jobs globally while reducing worldwide carbon emissions by one percent, with plans to scale operations systematically within that ratio. “The metric-driven target is to build an infrastructure capable of mobilizing 100 million individuals to secure environmental viability for subsequent generations,” Majumdar stated. He is the architect behind “Project Green Logic,” a carbon-negative industrial hub and advanced materials research center, and has engineered international waste-to-energy frameworks across Ghana, Nigeria, and Mexico.
Jones, who has served as Majumdar's executive mentor for nearly two years, praised his ethical leadership. “Sumit brings vision and direction to Verite in terms of economically viable green initiatives for employment, energy, and agriculture which results in the empowerment of the communities Verite serves,” Jones said. Majumdar echoed the sentiment, calling Jones “the most ethical man I ever met” and noting their shared commitment to advancing humanity through environmental remediation and protecting underserved communities.
The appointment positions Verite at the forefront of the global green transition, demonstrating that high-level corporate finance can be systematically leveraged for environmental stability and equitable opportunity. Majumdar's integration into Verite's leadership will also increase the firm's strategic and financial commitment to Buffalo Biodiesel both domestically and internationally.
