Sha-La Music has announced the worldwide release of DownTown Mystic's new single "Somebody's Always Doin' Something 2 Somebody" and the Mystic Highway EP, featuring collaborations with notable musicians including keyboardist Jeff Levine of Joe Cocker and Hall & Oates fame. The single will be released to US radio on October 7 and to streaming services on October 10, while the EP will be available worldwide via The Orchard/Sony Music on November 7.
The release is significant for its incorporation of artificial intelligence in music production, marking the first AI video created by Richard Levinsohn/Rick Lee Vinson Group for DownTown Mystic. This technological integration reflects evolving creative processes in the music industry while maintaining the artist's commitment to high-quality rock 'n' roll. The Mystic Highway EP contains six songs, including the bonus track single, and continues DownTown Mystic's pattern of working with elite musicians, described by writer/producer Robert Allen as essential to the project's success.
Musical contributions come from drummer Steve Holley and bassist Paul Page, who form the rhythm section on five tracks, while guitarists Lance Doss, Bruce Engler, and Justin "JJ" Jordan bring diverse styles to the rock-oriented compositions. Engler, who co-wrote and sings on "Read The Signs," also features the track on his own album One More Chance with DownTown Mystic. The collaboration extends to The Sidney Green Street Band, a side project involving Jordan, Doss, Holley, and Page, accessible through their Spotify profile.
DownTown Mystic's sync-licensing achievements underscore the commercial and artistic relevance of this release, with music featured in over 250 TV shows and films, including three songs in 2025 movie soundtracks such as Everything's Going to Be Great and Sovereign. Critical acclaim from publications like Jamsphere Magazine and American Songwriter emphasizes the EP's blend of familiar rock elements with refreshing production quality. Looking ahead, the On E Street Remix project in January 2026 will feature collaborations with Max Weinberg and Garry Tallent of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, further cementing DownTown Mystic's industry connections.
Listeners can access the single at streaming services and the EP at digital platforms, with the AI-generated video available on YouTube. This release not only advances DownTown Mystic's musical journey but also demonstrates the ongoing integration of technology and tradition in contemporary rock music, offering business leaders insights into how AI is transforming creative industries while preserving artistic integrity.
