The 35th Education & Careers Expo, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, will take place from January 22 to 25 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This year's event brings together over 860 organizations from 23 countries and regions across separate Education and Careers sections, offering information on further studies and employment opportunities with free public admission.
Smilely Lam, Assistant Executive Director of the HKTDC, stated that the Expo's theme "Go with Your Passion, Go Beyond Limits" spans four themed days focusing on Civil Servants & Public Services, Next Gen Technologies, Healthcare & Wellness, and Greater Bay Area Opportunities. The event aims to align with social development and evolving market needs while supporting Hong Kong's development as an international hub for high-calibre talent.
The Education section is divided into four zones: Local Studies, Non-Hong Kong Education, Lifelong Learning, and Youth Zone. The Local Studies zone will feature the SOPHIE 8x model, independently developed by the Engineering Discipline of the Vocational Training Council and winner of the World Solar Challenge. The Hong Kong Institute of Construction will present its "AI Tower Crane Simulator," using AI technology to provide immersive learning experiences that simulate construction site environments. Several institutions will introduce new application-oriented programs including robotics and automation engineering in response to growing global demand for technology-related industry talent.
On the employment front, the Careers and Recruitment Square zones will offer diverse career pathways with over 30 government departments and public organizations participating. The enhanced "CV Clinic" returns with six key services including one-to-one CV consultations, professional CV portrait photography provided by recruitment platform Jobsdb, and career consultation services from MT20 Consulting Limited. Additional features include Personal Colour Analysis by clincolour and the "16 Personality Types Magic Quiz" presented by CTgoodjobs. Job seekers can reserve these services in advance through the Education & Careers Expo website at https://www.hktdc.com/event/hkeducationexpo/en.
During the Expo period, over 100 activities will feature industry experts sharing experiences in innovation and technology, public service careers, and working holiday programs. Notable speakers include singer-songwriter Serrini, who holds a PhD from the University of Hong Kong, film directors Ho Cheuk-tin and Chiu Sin-hang, and Radio DJ "Ah Jeng." The Next Gen Technologies day will feature seminars from the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, Hong Kong Electric, CLP Power and MTR Corporation discussing prospects for technology and smart city development.
The Expo responds to Hong Kong's 2025 Policy Address measures to consolidate the region's role as an education hub and talent centre. A themed seminar "A Date with Giants" will feature representatives from enterprises including J.P. Morgan and Lenovo, while the China Hong Kong Elite Union will invite "Hong Kong Drifters" - Chinese Mainland students studying in Hong Kong - to share their education-to-employment experiences. Visitors can also experience the "Instant Career Snapshot" AI photo experience and register for events through https://tinyurl.com/3yh4wd8a.
This comprehensive approach to integrating AI applications with educational programs and enhanced career services reflects the growing importance of technology in workforce development and Hong Kong's strategic positioning within the Greater Bay Area. The Expo's focus on next-generation technologies and international education opportunities demonstrates how educational institutions and employers are adapting to global technological shifts while addressing local talent development needs.
