The Skadi Tour, a father-daughter initiative spanning three Canadian provinces, concluded this week with Greg Scott and his daughter Hali completing their goal of skiing every lift-serviced ski area in Western Canada. Their journey, which covered 94 ski areas across British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, was undertaken to promote youth mentorship and community collaboration through their Tidbits of Change Foundation.
The Saskatchewan leg of their tour saw them ski all 11 lift-serviced ski areas in the province in just 10 days, beginning and ending at Table Mountain Ski Resort. This achievement follows their previous tours where they became the first people to ski all 44 British Columbia ski areas in a single winter, completing that challenge in 42 days, and subsequently skiing all 39 Alberta areas. The tour's name, The Skadi Tour, pays homage to the Norse mythology goddess of snow, skiing, and mountains.
A central objective of this extensive project has been to inspire Canadian youth to pursue meaningful initiatives with the support of a parent or mentor. "We're excited to hear the stories submitted for our youth bursaries this year," said Scott. The Tidbits of Change Foundation awards $5,000 and $1,000 youth bursaries annually to Canadian youth who complete initiatives in collaboration with a parent or mentor. More information about past recipients and submission details is available at https://tidbitsofchange.org.
The concept for The Skadi Tour emerged two years ago while Scott and his daughter were organizing school visits across B.C. to promote the foundation's youth bursaries. "Our whole adventure has been incredibly rewarding," Scott noted. "It's the combination of strong ski communities and the inspiring people who make each area special." Throughout their travels, they documented their experiences and shared stories of local ski legends through their Instagram account @tidbitsofchange, generating significant social media engagement with over 3.5 million interactions.
The tour's impact extends beyond the skiing achievement itself, serving as a demonstration of intergenerational collaboration and community engagement. The foundation operates on the belief that mentorship-driven collaboration benefits young people and strengthens communities, particularly when those efforts create positive impact or inspire others. The tour was made possible with support from corporate partners including HEAD skis, Kal-Tire, and Descente, who have added special youth bursaries to the foundation's efforts.
For business and technology leaders, this initiative represents an innovative approach to corporate social responsibility and community engagement, demonstrating how personal passion projects can be leveraged to support broader social objectives. The tour's substantial social media reach indicates the power of authentic storytelling in building brand awareness and community connection, while the foundation's structure provides a model for sustainable philanthropic efforts that directly engage target beneficiaries.
