Angkor Resources Corp. has announced the commencement of additional exploration activities at its CZ Gold prospect on the Andong Meas exploration license in Cambodia's Ratanakiri Province. The company's mineral exploration team is initiating a large-scale trenching, sampling, assay, and analysis program at the site, which features a 47-meter underground incline from historical artisanal mining activity. The planned trench will run approximately 80 meters perpendicular across the projected incline to surface, beginning at the top of the exit area, with several weeks budgeted for completion. Farmers are being compensated for any loss or damage to cashew trees or other plantings during the exploration work.
The primary objective of the trenching program is to determine the geology and structure of the stockwork and its wall rocks at the CZ Gold prospect. The area has shown promising indicators, with the creek directly below the zone, described as 'Gold Placer-Mined Creek Draining CZ Zone,' having been actively mined during the past rainy season. Artisanal miners panned approximately 150 meters along both sides of the stream, creating numerous pits and piles in the creek bed. The company has provided a visual reference for the exploration area through The google map that indicates the planned trenching target area shown in orange.
In addition to the CZ Gold exploration, Angkor Resources is preparing to conduct a drill program at the Wild Boar gold prospect, located approximately 3 kilometers east of the CZ target. Previous trenching and sampling at Wild Boar has revealed narrow northwest trending southwest dipping quartz veins, with artisanal miners having historically mined the upper 1.5 meters of soil in the area. The company's exploration has uncovered an abundance of quartz vein float sitting atop weathered soil, with assay results expanding the gold anomaly to 1.5 by 1.2 kilometers. Detailed assay information is available through the company's previous announcement Assays Returns 25.6 gpt Gold in Wild Boar Veins - Angkor Resources Corp.
The technical aspects of this exploration program have been reviewed and approved by Dennis Ouellette, B.Sc., P.Geo., the company's VP Exploration on site and a Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101. Ouellette is a member of The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta. The exploration advances come as Angkor Resources continues to develop its mineral and energy portfolio in Cambodia, where its mineral subsidiary, Angkor Gold Corp., holds two mineral exploration licenses with multiple copper and gold prospects, both currently in their first two-year renewal term.
For business and technology leaders monitoring resource development in Southeast Asia, Angkor Resources' expanded exploration activities represent significant potential for Cambodia's emerging mineral sector. The company's systematic approach to exploration, combining modern geological techniques with acknowledgment of historical artisanal activity, demonstrates a model for responsible resource development in frontier markets. The simultaneous advancement of both CZ Gold and Wild Boar prospects indicates confidence in the region's mineral potential and could signal broader investment opportunities in Cambodia's underdeveloped mining sector. Successful exploration outcomes could position Cambodia as a more prominent player in the global gold market while supporting the country's economic diversification beyond traditional sectors.
