Renewal Fuels, Inc., operating under the American Fusion brand, has appointed Travis Yakimishyn as Chief Electrical & Power Systems Officer to lead electrical architecture and utility-scale integration for its Texatron™ aneutronic fusion platform. The appointment represents a strategic move to accelerate the commercial deployment of fusion energy technology by addressing one of the most critical challenges in the industry: grid interconnection and power systems infrastructure.
Yakimishyn brings extensive experience in electrical infrastructure, grid interconnection, substation design, and high-voltage power systems to the role. As a licensed professional engineer, his technical expertise spans power distribution architecture, protection and control systems, and utility-scale energy infrastructure. His career includes leading complex electrical engineering initiatives involving transmission systems, substation configuration, system protection coordination, load flow analysis, and interconnection planning, with direct engagement with utility providers and regulatory bodies.
In his new position, Yakimishyn will oversee the electrical architecture and grid integration strategy for Kepler's Texatron™ platform. His responsibilities include advancing scalable electrical design standards, coordinating interconnection pathways, aligning protection and control systems with commercial deployment requirements, and ensuring long-term operational stability as development progresses toward commercialization. According to Brent Nelson, CEO of Kepler Fusion, Yakimishyn has been instrumental in bridging advanced plasma physics with utility-scale electrical engineering, strengthening the company's ability to transition Texatron™ from advanced development into commercial operation.
Richard Hawkins, Chairman and CEO of Renewal Fuels, emphasized the importance of this appointment for institutional investors and infrastructure partners who evaluate energy platforms based on execution capability alongside innovation. Yakimishyn brings six years of hands-on Texatron™ development experience alongside world-class engineering credentials, providing real-world power systems expertise that aligns with Kepler's commercialization trajectory. The appointment reflects the company's focus on building a team capable of executing at commercial scale as it advances its patent portfolio and regulatory readiness initiatives.
The company continues to advance additional patent filings supporting the Texatron platform and is progressing regulatory initiatives, including Form 10 preparation, audit completion, and corporate actions related to its transition to American Fusion.
