Andina Copper Corporation has reported significant drill intercepts from the second hole of its maiden diamond drilling program at the Cobrasco copper-molybdenum project in Choco, Colombia. The results from drillhole CDH004 follow high-grade intersections in CDH003 and demonstrate further strong mineralization.
Drillhole CDH004, completed to 900.25 meters, returned wide intercepts of copper-molybdenum mineralization. The most significant interval from 579 to 686 meters averaged 0.75% copper, with a peak 2-meter assay value of 1.70% copper. This interval is associated with intensely fractured magmatic-hydrothermal breccias, suggesting effective fluid focusing within the mineralized system. Sporadic gold mineralization of up to 1.06 g/t was also reported in CDH004, supporting a possible gold-rich intrusive phase within the broader Cobrasco system.
The geological sequence intersected in CDH004 includes intermediate composition porphyries, multiple phases of early to late-mineral rhyolite, rhyodacite and dacite with felsic affinities, and late-stage phreatomagmatic breccias. The upper portion of the hole returned anomalous copper and silver values of up to 0.39% Cu and 393 ppm Ag. The company's detailed geological analysis is available in their corporate presentation.
Drillhole CDH005, designed to expand the mineralized footprint southwest of previous holes, was completed to 934.00 meters. While assays are pending, the hole intersected visually significant chalcopyrite-dominant sulphide mineralization throughout. The continuity of intrusive phases, alteration styles and sulphide mineralization supports the interpretation of a large and long-lived mineralizing system extending south of the currently defined drill footprint.
Andina Copper's President and CEO Joseph van den Elsen stated that the results further validate the size, scale and grade of the Cobrasco system. The company sees potential for a globally significant deposit and plans to mobilize a second drill rig to expedite exploration. Ongoing step-out drilling, including CDH006 currently underway, will seek to systematically expand the footprint of the system and define its lateral extents.
The technical information in the release was verified by Francisco Montes, a qualified person under National Instrument 43-101. Quality assurance and quality control procedures included sample preparation at ALS facilities in Medellin and analysis at the ALS laboratory in Lima, Peru. Mineralized intercepts reported for CDH004 applied a 0.2% Cu cut-off and maximum dilution of 20 meters.
For business and technology leaders monitoring resource development, these results indicate potential for a large-scale porphyry copper-molybdenum deposit with significant volumes of high-grade mineralization. The discovery could impact global copper supply chains and represents substantial value creation potential in Colombia's emerging mining sector. The systematic exploration approach and rapid evaluation plans demonstrate how modern geological techniques combined with strategic drilling can efficiently define mineral resources in challenging environments.
