Andina Copper's drillhole CDH009 confirms a 350m northwest extension of shallow, high-grade copper-molybdenum mineralization at the Cobrasco Project in Colombia, expanding the mineralized footprint to 1,200m by 550m with the system remaining open in all directions.
Andina Copper Extends High-Grade Mineralization at Cobrasco Project, Paving Way for Expanded Porphyry System

Andina Copper Corporation (TSX-V: ANDC | FSE: FIR | OTCQB: PMMCF) has reported outstanding drill intercepts from its Cobrasco Project in Choco, Colombia, confirming a significant northwesterly extension of near-surface copper-molybdenum mineralization. Drillhole CDH009, drilled to a final depth of 954m, returned 502 meters at 0.40% copper, 73ppm molybdenum, and 1.22g/t silver from 38 meters downhole, including higher-grade intervals. The results expand the drillhole-defined mineralized footprint at Cobrasco Central to approximately 1,200 meters by 550 meters, with mineralization remaining open in all directions.

The company is systematically advancing its scout drilling program with wide-spaced fans of holes aimed at expanding the envelope of porphyry copper-molybdenum mineralization. To date, all nine drill holes reported have returned wide intervals of high-grade near-surface mineralization. Joseph van den Elsen, President and CEO of Andina Copper, stated: “The results of hole CDH009 validate this approach, significantly extending shallow, near-surface copper-molybdenum mineralization 350m to the northwest.” He added that the mobilization of a second diamond drilling rig will expedite continued exploration and enable simultaneous testing of potential new porphyry centers.

Drillhole CDH009 was collared from the same pad as previous holes CDH006, CDH007, and CDH008, and drilled northwest to test for continuation of shallow mineralization. The hole intersected a leached cap with supergene oxidation to about 41 meters. Below that, significant chalcopyrite mineralization occurs as disseminations and veinlets in various porphyry phases. Below 350 meters, copper and molybdenum mineralization is associated with halo veins and alteration fronts, with chalcopyrite-bornite mineralization persisting to the end of the hole at 954 meters, albeit at lower grades. The highest grades are found in the upper 300 meters, closely associated with intensive sericite alteration.

Two additional drillholes, CDH010 and CDH011, have been completed from the same platform, with assays pending. Wide-spaced scout drilling from a new platform located approximately 350 meters northwest of the previous site is ongoing to assess the overall scale potential of the Cobrasco mineralized system. The company is also preparing for the introduction of a second drill rig to accelerate exploration.

The implications for the industry are significant. The Cobrasco Project continues to demonstrate the potential for a large porphyry copper system in Colombia, a country with emerging mining investment. For leaders in business and technology, the systematic expansion of mineralization suggests a robust exploration model that could lead to a significant copper resource, critical for the global energy transition. Copper is essential for electrification and renewable energy technologies, and new discoveries like Cobrasco could help meet growing demand. The open-ended nature of the mineralization indicates that further drilling could substantially increase the resource base, potentially attracting strategic partnerships or acquisition interest.

Andina Copper holds two significant discoveries along the Andean porphyry belt in Argentina and Colombia, and a target in Chile. The company is listed on the TSX Venture Exchange, Frankfurt, and OTC markets. For more details, the company’s corporate presentation is available at Andina Copper Corporate Presentation.
