Aspen Healthcare has been named Best of Denton County 2026 in both Home Health and Hospice categories, marking the sixth year the North Texas healthcare organization has earned the community's recognition. The awards, announced August 26, reflect the growing importance of home-based care in a region experiencing significant population growth.
Denton County's population has surged to more than 1.06 million, an 18% increase since 2020, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. This growth has intensified competition among home health and hospice providers, with over 200 Medicare-certified agencies operating within a 25-mile radius of Denton. Against this backdrop, repeated recognition by residents distinguishes providers that have truly embedded themselves in the community.
Sukhu George, CEO of Aspen Healthcare, attributes the organization's continued success to its expansion of services that bring healthcare into the home. In particular, he highlights the growing palliative care program, which offers support for patients with serious illness who may not yet qualify for hospice. "Palliative care is helping us reach patients who need more support at home but may not be ready for hospice," George said. "A patient can still be pursuing curative treatment, or the prognosis may simply be uncertain. We can send experienced clinicians, including prescribers such as nurse practitioners, into the home to help manage difficult symptoms and coordinate care."
Unlike hospice, palliative care can be provided at any stage of disease and alongside curative treatments, filling a critical gap between traditional medical visits, home health, and hospice. This service complements Aspen's established offerings, which include skilled nursing, rehabilitation, private-duty care, and hospice. The organization's comprehensive approach aims to meet patients and families where they are, with the right level of support at the right time.
