Cayenne Wellness Center to Host 5th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Educational Summit on Sickle Cell Disease

Cayenne Wellness Center has announced its 5th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Educational Summit, scheduled for September 15–16, 2026, at the Marriott Long Beach Downtown in Long Beach, California, with an online option. The summit coincides with National Sickle Cell Awareness Month and the start of Hispanic Heritage Month, highlighting the intersection of culture and health.

The event is designed for healthcare professionals, educators, social workers, students, and Hispanic and Latino individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease. It aims to unite sickle cell warriors, caregivers, and advocates to address the unique challenges faced by these communities. The programming will focus on culturally relevant education, community voices, and dialogue to improve awareness, health equity, and access to quality care.

Key sponsors include Beam Therapeutics, Inc. as a Gold sponsor, and Chiesi USA, Inc. and Global Rare Diseases as Silver sponsors. Their support underscores the importance of community partnerships in advancing sickle cell awareness and care.

The summit will explore the relationship between country of origin, genetic background, and community-centered education, providing tools for warriors to advocate for themselves. A warrior-led roundtable will offer lived experiences, and sessions will cover the transition from pediatric to adult care, as well as breakout discussions on men's health, women's health, international warriors, and provider perspectives.

Vendor and exhibitor tables will be available for community organizations, businesses, and educational institutions to share resources and connect with attendees. The summit aims to strengthen community relationships and expand awareness of sickle cell disease within Hispanic and Latino communities.

Registration is now open, and interested parties can sign up at https://cayennewellness.org/espanol/hispanic-heritage-virtual-seminar-2026. Vendor and exhibitor opportunities can be reserved at https://tinyurl.com/HHVENDOR2026.

Cayenne Wellness Center and Children's Foundation, established in 2000, is a nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals with sickle cell disease in California. Through education, advocacy, and comprehensive care, the organization continues to be a trusted leader in sickle cell support.

This summit represents a critical step in addressing health disparities for Hispanic and Latino individuals with sickle cell disease, a condition that disproportionately affects minority populations. By focusing on culturally responsive education and community engagement, the event aims to create lasting impact on health outcomes and equity.
