DTLA ArtNight Expands into Fashion District, Unifying Downtown Cultural Experience

DTLA ArtNight, Downtown Los Angeles's monthly celebration of arts and culture, has announced its largest expansion to date, officially adding the Fashion District to its roster beginning Thursday, August 6, 2026. This move connects Grand Avenue, the Historic Core, and the Fashion District into one unified cultural experience, marking a significant step in the organization's mission to activate and unify Downtown Los Angeles.

The expansion introduces several new partners and activations, including a special classical music collaboration between Grand Performances and The Colburn School at Spiral Court. This event, scheduled for 6:00 p.m., will feature works by composers such as Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, Johann Sebastian Bach, Reena Esmail, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Erich Wolfgang Korngold, and Astor Piazzolla, performed by students and alumni of The Colburn School. Rafael González, President & CEO of Grand Performances, emphasized the importance of fresh curation and discovery in the programming.

In the Fashion District, notable partners include the Bendix Building, Kelly O'Brien Atelier × Not For Resale LA, CRE8, Mary at The STILE Hotel, and Zenith Gallery. Kelly O'Brien, founder of Kelly O'Brien Atelier × Not For Resale LA, expressed excitement about welcoming visitors into her working studio, while CRE8, a four-year-old creative space, sees this as a milestone for bringing awareness and vibrancy to the neighborhood. Mary at The STILE Hotel, located in the historic United Artists Building, will offer coffee, cocktails, and live music to attendees.

DATALAND, the new AI art museum co-founded by Refik Anadol, joins DTLA ArtNight with its inaugural exhibition, Machine Dreams: Rainforest, an omni-sensory AI art experience spanning over 25,000 square feet. Anadol noted that the event finally realizes their dream of merging audience and artwork, and attendees will have access to a special promotional booking opportunity.

DTLA ArtNight also features a hands-on photography experience at Emergent Gallery, hosted by Samy's Camera and Sony Electronics, the event's Official Photography Sponsor. Participants can borrow Sony cameras and lenses, capture the event, and enter a competition with a $2,000 grand prize in Sony gear. Selected entries will be exhibited at Samy's Camera's Los Angeles flagship store. Roui Kamienowicz, COO of Samy's Camera, highlighted the contest's goal to bring people together through photography, while Eric Bruehl of Sony Electronics emphasized inspiring photographers to create.

The historic Biltmore Los Angeles will host acclaimed photographer Andrei Duman and his exhibition The Art of X Rays, featuring live jazz, specialty cocktails, and an artist book signing.

This expansion underscores DTLA ArtNight's commitment to connecting neighborhoods through arts and culture. By incorporating the Fashion District, a growing creative hub with galleries, artist studios, and hospitality venues, the event continues to showcase the diversity and energy of Downtown Los Angeles. Michael Angelo DeLance, President of DTLA ArtNight, stated, "DTLA ArtNight was created to activate Downtown Los Angeles and showcase everything that makes our city extraordinary... Expanding into the Fashion District is an exciting next step as we continue building one connected Downtown."

For business and technology leaders, this expansion signals the growing importance of cultural placemaking in urban development. The integration of AI-driven art experiences like DATALAND and the involvement of tech companies like Sony highlight the intersection of technology and culture. This convergence can drive tourism, support local businesses, and foster innovation, positioning Downtown Los Angeles as a model for creative economic growth.

As DTLA ArtNight continues to grow, it not only enriches the cultural fabric of the city but also creates opportunities for collaboration across industries. The event's ability to attract major partners and expand into new districts demonstrates its impact on the local economy and its potential to influence how cities leverage arts and technology to build community.
