The 36th Hong Kong Book Fair, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will take place from July 15 to 21 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Running concurrently with the Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo and the World of Snacks, the three fairs are expected to bring together more than 770 exhibitors from nearly 30 countries and regions, offering a one-stop destination for culture, sports, and leisure experiences.
This year's Book Fair adopts 'Cultural Legacy | Joyful Journeys' as its annual theme, aiming to inspire readers to explore heritage and innovation in modern society through reading. More than 600 cultural events will be held both at the fairground and across the city. Jenny Koo, HKTDC Deputy Executive Director, stated: 'We hope to inspire readers to explore the heritage and innovation of traditional culture in modern society through reading. Furthermore, we invite everyone to immerse themselves in cultural and eco-tourism.'
As the HKTDC celebrates its 60th anniversary, Chairman Professor Frederick Ma will join Hong Kong artist Jane Lee (pen name: Messy Desk) and over 100 students to create a collaborative artwork depicting Hong Kong's transformation. The 'World of Art & Culture' zone will feature the 'World in Words, A Voyage of the Heart' exhibition, showcasing over 200 books and items from around the world. Eight seminar series will bring together renowned writers, including Liu Zhenyun, Su Tong, Bi Feiyu, and British poet Luke Kennard. Joe Ngai, Greater China Chairman of McKinsey & Company, will discuss the global economic landscape and the Chinese market.
For the first time, the Book Fair introduces the ASEAN Literary Festival in collaboration with the Hong Kong-ASEAN Foundation, featuring authors like Eka Kurniawan and Clarissa Goenawan. Industry events include the 'International Publishing Forum' and 'IP Roundtable'. The Cultural and Creative Space returns with pavilions from Fujian, Hangzhou, and local exhibitor Tsi Ku Chai. Chinese Mainland Publishers will bring 49 organizations and approximately 20,000 publications, spotlighting Yunnan province.
The Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo will feature experiential activities such as the 'Fit & Fearless Challenge' by the Hong Kong Playground Association and exhibits by Cyber Smart Limited showcasing pickleball apparel. My Mini Zoo, Hong Kong's first indoor interactive animal experience space, will debut, offering visitors the chance to interact with animals and learn about nature.
The World of Snacks will feature over 1,300 snacks from nearly 30 countries, including local brands like Amore Hand Baked and innovative products from Do Did Dust and Night Fever Limited. A single ticket provides access to all three events, with adult tickets priced at HK$30. Special promotions include the '60 Book Fair Super Passes' giveaway to celebrate HKTDC's 60th anniversary.
The fairs aim to promote reading, healthy lifestyles, and cultural exchange, providing significant opportunities for businesses and visitors to engage with global trends in publishing, sports, and food.
