SS Innovations International, Inc. (Nasdaq: SSII) announced that its SSi Mantra surgical robotic system has been used in more than 10,500 cumulative surgeries as of April 30, 2026, representing a significant milestone for the company since the system's commercial launch in August 2022. The tally includes over 500 cardiac procedures, 170 telesurgeries, and 125 pediatric surgeries, with approximately 2,100 physicians trained on the system across more than 170 different types of procedures.
Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, Chairman and CEO of SS Innovations, credited the system's advanced technology and cost advantages for its rapid adoption. “Reaching 10,500 cumulative surgeries in such a short time span reflects the SSi Mantra’s advanced technology, differentiated features, ease of training, user-friendliness, and clear cost advantages,” he said. The company has expanded its global installed base to over 200 systems across eleven countries, with a strong presence in the Indian market.
The SSi Mantra is a modular, multi-arm system featuring 3 to 5 robotic arms, an open-faced ergonomic surgeon command center, a large 3D 4K monitor, and a virtual real-time image of the patient-side arm carts. It also offers the optional SSi MantrAsana Tele Surgeon Console, which enables enhanced portability and telesurgery capability. The system supports over 40 different types of robotic endo-surgical instruments, including 5mm instruments for pediatric and ENT surgeries.
This milestone underscores the growing adoption of robotic surgery in emerging markets, where cost and training barriers have historically limited access. By providing an affordable alternative to established systems, SS Innovations aims to democratize robotic surgery globally. The company's strategy focuses on expanding its presence in India and other countries, with plans to further scale its installed base and surgical volumes.
For industry leaders, the rapid uptake of the SSi Mantra signals a shift toward more accessible robotic surgery, potentially increasing competition and driving down costs across the sector. The system's telesurgery capabilities also open new possibilities for remote surgical care, which could be particularly impactful in underserved regions.
SS Innovations, headquartered in India, continues to develop its proprietary technologies, including the SSi Mudra surgical instruments. The company's newsroom provides further updates at SS Innovations Newsroom.
