Stamford Health has been recognized as a Castle Connolly Gold Standard Top Hospital for 2026, placing the independent nonprofit healthcare system among the top 1% of hospitals nationwide. Only 38 hospitals earned this distinction, which reflects the highest overall performers across the United States, according to the announcement.

Stamford Health operates a 305-bed hospital in Stamford, Connecticut, and employs more than 4,100 staff. The system has earned multiple national recognitions, including Magnet Recognition® status from the American Nurses Credentialing Center for the third time since 2016. This places Stamford Health among only 10.5% of U.S. hospitals and one of seven in Connecticut to receive the honor. Additionally, the hospital received a five-star Overall Hospital Quality rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and an “A” grade for safety from The Leapfrog Group.
The health system is also dedicated to person-centered care, having been re-certified with Planetree Gold Certification for Excellence in Person-Centered Care for the fourth time since 2014. Only about 100 organizations worldwide hold this certification. In 2025, U.S. News & World Report recognized Stamford Hospital as the number one hospital in Fairfield County and number four in Connecticut, highlighting its medical performance in 12 distinct areas.
Stamford Health’s clinical partnerships bring advanced care to the community.
