Trailbreaker Resources Ltd. (TBK.V) has announced the mobilization of its drill to the Swan Zone at its 100%-owned Atsutla Gold Project in northwestern British Columbia, following the completion of a maiden drill program at the Highlands Zone. The drill program at the Swan Zone will target a copper-gold-silver (Cu-Au-Ag) porphyry target, while the Highlands Zone drilling focused on high-grade vein-hosted gold, silver, and copper showings. The two zones are 26 kilometers apart and hosted in different geological units, with the Highlands Zone in the Jurassic Christmas Creek batholith and the Swan Zone in the Cretaceous Glundebery batholith.
The move underscores Trailbreaker's systematic exploration approach. CEO Daithi Mac Gearailt noted that the Swan Zone has been developed from a new discovery over five years through detailed geological mapping, soil geochemical surveys, induced polarization (IP) surveys, and airborne magnetic surveying. The company expects the Swan Zone drilling to proceed efficiently, similar to the Highlands Zone program, which was completed on schedule and within budget.
The Highlands Zone program comprised four diamond drill holes totaling 883.40 meters, testing a strike length of 500 meters and a vertical extent of 412 meters. Details were provided in a June 29, 2026 news release.
The Swan Zone is a Cu-Au-Ag porphyry target defined by a 1.5 km x 1.5 km multi-element soil geochemical anomaly (Au-Cu-Ag-As-Mo-Sb-Bi). Rock grab samples have graded up to 11.7 g/t gold, 212 g/t silver, and 0.81% copper. The anomaly coincides with a 2.1 km x 1.4 km donut-shaped chargeability high from a 2024 IP survey and a zone of elevated potassium with a magnetic low from 2024 airborne magnetic and radiometric surveys. Despite limited historic drilling in the adjacent valley, the Swan Zone itself has never been drilled.
The upcoming diamond drill program will target surface and geophysical anomalies, testing an estimated strike length of 1,000 meters to a vertical depth exceeding 400 meters. The company anticipates that this preliminary program will improve understanding of mineralization controls and the deposit model, aiding the design of future drill campaigns.
In addition, Trailbreaker plans to drill several Cu-Au porphyry targets at the Coho property in September 2026, located 30 km northwest of the Mt. Milligan mine in central BC, as outlined in a May 25, 2026 news release.
The Atsutla Gold Project is centered on the regional-scale Teslin-Thibert fault system, marking the contact between the Quesnel and Cache Creek terranes. Since discovery in 2020, Trailbreaker has outlined five significant gold mineralization zones across 26 kilometers: the Highlands Zone, Christmas Creek Zone, Snook Zone, Willie Jack Zone, and Swan Zone. The project covers 300 km² in a mining-friendly jurisdiction.
For stakeholders, this drilling represents a significant step toward unlocking the potential of the Swan Zone, which could become a substantial porphyry deposit. Success could enhance Trailbreaker's project portfolio and attract further investment in British Columbia's mineral exploration sector.
