The Tú Cuentas Cine Youth Fest (TCCYF), a youth-focused film initiative created by HITN, has received two Telly Awards for its interview series Tú Cuentas Cafecito. The series won a Silver Telly in the General–Interview & Talk Show category for its episode with Ingrid 'Superstar' Salcedo, an Emmy Award-winning broadcast executive and producer known for shaping Latin music award shows. A Bronze Telly was awarded for the episode featuring actress and filmmaker Roselyn Sánchez, whose credits include Without a Trace and Devious Maids, and who recently directed the film Diario, Mujer y Café.
“For the past five years, HITN’s goal with Tú Cuentas has been to create a platform where young filmmakers and storytellers can showcase their voices and their work,” said Cynthia Rivera, co-director of the series. “Seeing our Cafecito series recognized with these Telly Awards is a beautiful affirmation of that vision, and we are deeply grateful to the emerging filmmakers who trust us with their stories and to the Telly Awards for this honor.”
The recognition marks a milestone for Tú Cuentas Cafecito, which centers on intimate conversations with Hispanic leaders, creatives, and changemakers. Host Raymond Arturo Pérez, a Los Angeles-based television writer and former staff writer on season two of Selena: The Series, brings warmth and authenticity to each episode, creating a space where guests share their stories. Rivera praised Pérez’s role, noting he “creates a welcoming space where guests can openly share their stories and connect with audiences in a meaningful way.”
The awards underscore the growing visibility of Hispanic-centered storytelling in digital and television media. HITN, the parent company, is a leading Spanish-language media organization reaching over 35 million homes in the United States and Puerto Rico via major platforms like DIRECTV, Comcast Xfinity, and Verizon FiOS TV, as detailed on HITN.org. The Telly Awards, established in 1979, receive over 13,000 entries annually from 50 states and five continents, judged by a council of over 250 industry experts from agencies, production companies, and networks.
For business and technology leaders, this achievement highlights the strategic value of investing in diverse content that resonates with underserved audiences. As media consumption fragments, platforms that authentically engage Hispanic communities—one of the fastest-growing demographics in the U.S.—can drive viewer loyalty and open new revenue streams. The series’ success also demonstrates how digital-first storytelling, combined with cultural relevance, can earn prestigious industry recognition, offering a blueprint for other organizations seeking to amplify underrepresented voices while building brand equity.
The Telly Awards partnership with organizations like RunwayML AIFF and NAB further signals the convergence of technology and storytelling, where AI and digital tools are enabling new forms of narrative. For leaders in business and tech, the takeaway is clear: investing in inclusive content platforms not only fosters community but also positions companies at the forefront of media innovation, where authentic representation increasingly drives competitive advantage.
