Vinhomes has unveiled the master plan for Vinhomes Global Gate Ha Long, a sprawling 6,200-hectare integrated urban development adjacent to the UNESCO-listed Ha Long Bay in Vietnam. The project, which is the company's largest to date, signals a shift in urban development metrics, prioritizing the value delivered per hectare over traditional measures of land size.
For decades, the scale of master-planned communities has been a key indicator of ambition, with developments spanning 2,500 acres or more considered large-scale. However, as cities face mounting pressures from climate change, population growth, and evolving mobility patterns, the criteria for successful urban development are changing. The OECD emphasizes that future cities must connect people to jobs and services, strengthen climate resilience, and integrate nature into urban infrastructure.
Positioned along the Hanoi–Hai Phong–Quang Ninh Expressway, Vinhomes Global Gate Ha Long is designed as a fully integrated city, not merely a residential complex. It combines world-class housing, public services, commerce, and ecological infrastructure within a connected environment. The project represents two decades of Vinhomes' evolution from landmark residential projects to comprehensive townships.
At the heart of the master plan is an integrated urban ecosystem aimed at reducing distances between living, working, learning, and essential services. The project's location adjacent to the future depot station of the Hanoi–Quang Ninh high-speed railway is pivotal, with travel times to the capital projected at approximately 23 minutes. The residential offerings include villas, townhouses, shophouses, and high-rise apartments across six districts. Hospitality offerings feature internationally managed luxury hotels, integrated casino facilities, a 950-hectare golf complex with 12 courses, an 800-hectare mangrove recreational park, and Wonder Marina, providing direct access to Ha Long Bay.
Commerce and lifestyle amenities are anchored by Vincom Mega Mall, premium outlet shopping, Vincom Collection retail streets, and dedicated lifestyle destinations, creating a 24-hour retail and dining environment. Sports and wellness infrastructure includes Vietnam's first purpose-built Sports District spanning 13.3 hectares, a professional sports academy, and over 50 kilometers of cycling routes. Health and education are served by the 14-hectare Vinmec Cleveland Clinic International Hospital, Vin New Horizon (Vietnam's largest senior living center), Golden Residence retirement villas, Vinschool campuses, an American international school, and Wonder Young Hub for youth development.
Anchoring the economic future is a new central business district with office towers of 30 to 45 stories, designed to attract businesses and reinforce Ha Long's role as an economic hub.
