Angkor Resources Corp. has completed a trenching and sampling program at its CZ Gold Prospect in Ratanakiri Province, Cambodia, as part of ongoing mineral exploration efforts. The program, which follows previous exploration announcements detailed in ANGKOR RESOURCES ADVANCES EXPLORATION ON CZ GOLD AND WILD BOAR PROSPECTS, ANDONG MEAS LICENSE, CAMBODIA, involved excavating twelve trenches across the prospect area to determine the geology, structure, and orientation of a quartz stockwork zone and its surrounding wall rocks.
Each trench measured approximately five meters in length, two meters in width, and five meters in depth. Due to challenging terrain with steep slopes and the required excavation depth, the company utilized specialized equipment to complete the work safely and efficiently. The process involved digging to target depth, after which field teams entered to collect samples directly from exposed geology, including visible veining and stockwork in trench walls. Once sampling was finished at each location, trenches were filled and sites restored to their original condition.
The company collected 298 samples of veins, side walls, and cross sections from the twelve trenches. Each sample will undergo a multi-method analytical approach: one portion for panning in the adjacent creek, one for portable X-ray fluorescence analysis, and one for fire assay. This comprehensive methodology is designed to provide detailed geochemical characterization of the stockwork zone and evaluate gold content across the target area. Sampling was completed recently, and analysis is expected to take several weeks before data interpretation can be finalized.
For business and technology leaders monitoring resource development in emerging markets, this exploration program represents a methodical approach to mineral discovery that combines traditional geological techniques with modern analytical technology. The portable XRF analysis represents a technological advancement in field geology, allowing for rapid preliminary assessment of mineral content while more definitive fire assay results are processed in laboratories.
The implications of successful exploration in this region extend beyond the immediate project. Cambodia represents an emerging frontier for mineral development, and systematic exploration programs like Angkor's trenching initiative help establish geological understanding that can attract further investment and development. The company's broader portfolio includes additional mineral exploration licenses and an onshore oil and gas license covering over 4,095 square kilometers, where seismic work completed in 2025 has identified drill targets for potential oil and gas exploration.
From an industry perspective, the careful, multi-phase approach to exploration demonstrated in this program reflects evolving best practices in resource development. By combining physical trenching with multiple analytical methods, companies can better assess mineral potential before committing to more expensive drilling programs. This risk-managed approach to exploration is particularly important in frontier regions where geological data may be limited.
The technical aspects of this program were reviewed and approved by Dennis Ouellette, the company's VP Exploration and a Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101. As the analysis phase progresses, results from this trenching program will contribute to the growing body of geological knowledge about Cambodia's mineral potential and help determine next steps in the exploration process.
